ABC Video Player Available Abroad?

UPDATE

We have just learned that ABC's Video Player that carries premium television programming such as Lost, Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy over the network's ABC.com website may now be accessible abroad.

If you are living abroad, have broadband Internet connection and have tried to watch any of the episodes of these programs via ABC.com today do let us know by leaving a comment below this post whether you have been successful or not.

Earlier this year, ABC was one of the first networks in the US to make their programming available online. The video player carries their top-rated shows with limited advertising, normally paid for by a single advertiser per episode.

The service is however normally unavailable to viewers abroad, including Canada, due to copyright issues.

If the programs are available abroad for the moment, it is not clear whether this is due to a technical problem or if it is a part of the network's current special package to offer all episodes of featured shows that have aired so far this season until January premieres.

Taylor's Sex Life Revealed In Erotic Novel On French "O.C."

They have barely started dating, yet The O.C.'s Ryan (Benjamin McKenzie) and Taylor (Autumn Reeser) are already headed for Break-upville as FOX's teen drama continues its countdown towards a possible series finale in February.

Taylor's ex-husband gets a little too close to home while he is promoting his erotic memoir.

In his risque novel, Henri-Michel (special guest star Henri Lubatti) refers to Taylor as "Peaches".

Taylor then takes part in a French television talk-show program discussing the book with her former husband.

After he tells Ryan about Taylor's exciting life in France, Ryan questions their relationship.

This starts a roller coaster of emotional drama that may ultimately lead to Ryan and Talor's break-up in late January.

Seth visits Dr. Roberts (Michael Nouri) in Seattle to ask for permission to marry Summer. No word yet on whether we'll get to see the "short nasty lady who bosses him around" at the Seattle Grace hospital.

Meanwhile, Summer reconnects Holly and a vision of her future in Newport. Holly, Summer's friend from season 1, will appear once again in the flashback episode scheduled for February sweeps.

Finally, Kaitlin realizes she likes Will (special guest-star Chris Brown), but is concerned he thinks she's too shallow.

Fans of "Everwood" star Chris Pratt will be happy to hear his character Che also returns in this episode.

The episode "The French Connection" airs January 11 at 9pm on FOX, opposite an all-new Grey's Anatomy on ABC. Thank goodness for TiVo!

'Prison Break's Wentworth Miller's Australian Radio Interview

Prison Break's star Wentworth Miller has done some promotional work for FOX in Australia this week revealing to listeners of a local radio station what it is like to star in an international hit series.

During his visit to Melbourne, the 34-year old British-born actor, attended the Foxtel PR event touting the Prison Break marathon on channel FOX-8 scheduled for Australia Day.

Before his departure today, Miller also gave an interview to Nova radio station giving more insight into his work on the set of 'Prison Break'.

The actor said the work on the set can be very difficult as he wakes up at 4:30am every morning and works till 8pm.

The production of one episode, which is essentially half a movie, takes only 8 days and has to progress swiftly, therefore no sick leave is allowed.

But he says he is very fortunate because he gets paid to do what he loves very much and is fascinated by the show's appeal across the world.

His favorite inmate in real life would be Michael Scoffield, because he would find a way to get him out of jail.

If he were to be locked with a woman, he would rather be with someone like Linda Hamilton, because she "kicks ass and can protect him".

Miller also disclosed he shares his trailer with on-screen brother Dominic Purcell and likes to take frequent naps as work can get a bit tiring.

The actor will spend New Year's eve with friends in Los Angeles and then go back to the set of "Prison Break".

You can hear the rest of the interview by clicking HERE.

You can see an exclusive preview of the January 29 episode by going to FOX.com.

UPDATE: Due to an error in TV-Guide schedule as well as a misleading promotional listing on the FOX.com website, there was a mistake in the earlier version of this post regarding the PRISON BREAK schedule on FOX.

The FOX drama will return on January 22 as previously announced and FOX will pre-empt regular Monday night programming on Monday, January 8 with the live telecast of the BCS National Championship Game.

Apologies to readers for any inconvenience caused by the erroneous post.

"Desperate Housewife" Eva Longoria Opens "Harrods" Sale

Eva Longoria made a grand entrance at today's opening of Harrods Annual Winter Sale arriving in London's Knightsbridge in a green carriage pulled by two black horses and meeting the luxurious department store's owner Mohamed Al Fayed.

The star who is spending her Christmas break working shouted to hundreds of eager shoppers and fans waiting to catch a glimpse of the "Desperate" star: "I hope you are ready to shop!".

Eva dazzled onlookers in a Dolce and Gabbana black minidress, white Jasmine di Milo coat and stilettos by Christian Louboutin.

Inside the store she stood on the balcony as the crowds counted down from 10 to mark the official opening of the store at 9am.

Longoria and Al Fayed then wandered around the store followed by a Scottish marching band, fans and media as customers took pictures of them on their cell phones.

Christmas TV Ratings

Broadcast networks in the US prefer to air reruns instead of razzle-dazzle Christmas specials during the holidays as television viewing levels have gone down considerably in recent years. Christmas 2006 was no exception.

On Christmas Eve, CBS won the night courtesy of Sunday's top program - NFL Overrun that took a byte of prime-time scoring over 17 million viewers at 7pm. That audience quickly disappeared as only a little over 5 million remained glued to the network by the end of the evening.

In comparison, holiday classic "It's A Wonderful Life" (1946) nabbed 4,89 million viewers for NBC, reruns of "Desperate Housewives" and "Brothers and Sisters" scored 3,45 million and 3,12 million viewers respectively (great viewer retention for "Brothers and Sisters", by the way) and "Spiderman" brought 4,19 million to FOX.

Monday night, NBC ruled the roost, as a special two-hour edition of "Deal or No Deal" earned top honors with 16,45 million, while the rerun of ABC's theatrical "Pirates of the Caribbean" scored a modest 8,64 million. Monday night movie "Radio" on FOX and CW comedies were almost invisible.

Finally, on Tuesday night, "Big Day" was a big loser on ABC, as the sitcom that follows a wedding day broken out into a whole season proved it was no "24" scoring less than 4 million viewers for both installments. "The Kennedy Center Honors" telecast on CBS was the evening's top show with 10,85 million.

Entertainment Weekly Brands "Grey's Anatomy" Top Entertainers

EW Magazine has published their year-end double issue naming the very best and worst in showbusiness. The cast of television's top show "Grey's Anatomy" eclipsed all music, film and literature stars, earning the honor of top entertainers in 2006.

EW calls the medical drama that has grown from a midseason replacement into a bona fide hit "an intoxicating thrill ride that is both unpredictable as it is unmissable".

The article goes on to explain reasons for giving "Grey's Anatomy" top honors including risk-taking character development, over-the-top medical cases and 'powerful emotional alchemy'.

Will "Desperate Housewives" Star Take Maternity Leave?

Actress Marcia Cross who plays uptight Bree Van De Kamp/Hodge on ABC's "Desperate Housewives" is due to give birth to twins in April 2007. Although the crew on the hit show have managed to hide her pregnancy on-screen relatively well, rumors have spread her character may disappear for several episodes come spring.

The "Desperate Housewives" star who got married to stockbroker Tom Mahoney last year in June, announced her pregnancy last summer. Although the showrunner Marc Cherry originally pondered the idea of making Marcia's character (who also recently tied the knot on-screen) pregnant, he quickly abandoned such idea.

As evident in November episodes (which had been filmed in early October), as well as candid images accompanying this article, Marcia's pregnancy is becoming more and more visible as her character Bree suddenly started hiding behind tables and windows and wearing long coats.

When the cast and crew return to the set next week they will begin production on the two episodes scheduled for February sweeps and spoilers have spread that the Orson Hodge mystery storyline may reach a small climax by the end of February and allow for Bree's character to be written out of the show for a short period of time.

It is difficult to say at this stage whether these rumors are true or not, but the truth is that the third season finale will be filmed around the same time Marcia Cross is supposed to give birth and it will be very difficult for the actress to remain involved in the show through the end of the season.

The fourth season of "Desperate Housewives" would then begin production in mid July 2007, giving the actress plenty of time to focus on her children as well as prepare for a whole new season of cleaning, baking and upholstering Van De Kamp style.

The Simpsons' New Year's Resolutions

FOX has issued the cutest press release today announcing New Year's resolutions of their Simpson family for 2007.

Here is how the Springfieldians have vowed to change their ways next year:

HOMER: I resolve to lose 10 pounds, and then gain it back by Valentine's Day.

MARGE: I resolve to finally learn how to make pancakes that don't stick to the pan. Bart helped me come up with that one.

KRUSTY: In 2007, I promise not to keep using the same old jokes I've been telling since 1961.

CHIEF WIGGUM: In the coming year, I resolve to learn how to work the safety on my gun.

COMIC BOOK GUY: In 2007, I resolve to boldly go where I have never gone before out on a date with a woman.

BARNEY: I resolve to quit drinking coffee. It leaves less room for beer.

NED FLANDERS: I resolve to be pious and kind and gentle and yippee, skippee I already am! Happy 2007, everybody!

The Simpsons return with an all-new episode "The Wife Aquatic" on Sunday, January 7 at 8pm and here is how FOX describes the episode:

While watching a home movie, Marge becomes depressed as she is reminded of memorable childhood vacations spent at Barnacle Bay.

Hating to see Marge sad, Homer and the kids take her on a surprise trip to the bay, only to discover that it has turned into a rundown mess due to the absence of fish.

Homer and the kids lovingly give the boardwalk a whole new makeover for Marge.

But when Homer accidentally lights the renovated carousal on fire, stirring up an angry mob of townspeople, more than just waves come crashing down.

Alma Hodge Crashes Bree's Dinner Party As "Desperate Housewives" Returns January 7

More details have emerged about the upcoming new episodes of ABC's Sunday night blockbuster "Desperate Housewives" and it all begins with a shocker: the woman all presumed dead crashes Bree Hodge's dinner party and it all ends in tears.

According to ABC's official press release concerning the first new episode of "Desperate Housewives" in 2007 entitled "No Fits, No Fights, No Feuds" scheduled to air on January 7, 2007 at 9pm:

"The residents of Wisteria Lane are shocked by Bree's surprise dinner guest".

What ABC have not said, but it is fairly obvious from the released promotional images, the guest in question is none other than Alma Hodge, Bree's husband's former wife whose disappearance puzzled the audience ever since the season opening teaser.

In the closing moments of the last episode prior to December hiatus, it was revealed Alma was alive and well and Orson's mysterious mother Gloria (the amazing Dixie Carter) was in touch with her.

Many have presumed the woman would remain in the background and continue to pull strings with the help of her former mother-in-law. But, Alma Hodge (Valerie Mahaffey) will return and confront her former husband Orson and his new wife Bree.

This will hardly be the end of the Orson Hodge mystery as the writers and producers of ABC's hit dramedy are rumored to adore Kyle McLachlan's performance as Orson Hodge and have decided to tweak his original storyline in order to expand his role.

After all, the police detective investigating Monique's murder will also crash the party. Does that mean the police are on to the idea that Mike Delfino, whom they had already put in jail, may not be the man they are looking for after all?

Also next week, Gaby will accuse Carlos of sabotaging her new relationship. Mark Deklin is listed among the guest stars for the episode, so his character Bill Pearce, the hunky father of the girl from Gabrielle's modeling class, returns to try to woo the material girl.

But, don't expect Bill to stick around for long. He will soon be out of the picture as Gabrielle's secret admirer (the one sending tons of flowers) is revealed and it is not Carlos.

Tom's daughter Kyla will return in this episode and the Scavos will do their best to make her feel at home.

And as if all this was not enough, expect the entire Young family, yes that's Paul (Mark Moses), Zach (Cody Kasch) AND Mary-Alice Young (Brenda Strong) to all make an appearance on the show in January.

"Six Days" Pictures & Spoilers: "Grey's Anatomy" 2-Part Episode Begins January 11

ABC has delayed the return of its Thursday night blockbuster "Grey's Anatomy" for one week. On January 11, the network will air part one of a special two-part episode entitled "Six Days" which is then scheduled to conclude the following week.

George O'Malley's (T.R. Knight) family returns and Meredith's (Ellen Pompeo) father makes an appearance on an episode so huge Shonda Rhimes and her writing team decided to expand it to 2 hours (#311 and #312).

ABC will air the second part of the episode a week later, on January 18. For those who happen to miss the original broadcast, the network will repeat the episode, also in two installments, on Friday January 12 and 19 at 8:00 PM, respectively.

In the episode, after a successful operation on his heart, George's father undergoes surgery for his cancer and Thatcher Grey visits Seattle Grace in order to see his new granddaughter. Also, Derek (Patrick Dempsey) appears to have problems sleeping soundly.

According to spoilers from TV Guide, Izzy (Katherine Heigl) will finally deposit her fat check in this episode. The act will however cause her to suffer an emotional breakdown at the bank as she passes what is left of Denny to the teller.

Finally, the above image taken from the January 11 episode promises sparks to fly as Alex clashes with Dr. Sloan and
Addison Shepherd, the woman who is rumored to be Alex's romantic (or is it purely sexual?) interest in the upcoming episodes, steps in to intervene. Steamy!

The drama was originally supposed to return on January 4. Instead, ABC will rerun that night the final two episodes that aired prior to December hiatus: "From a Whisper to a Scream" (#309) and "Don't Stand So Close To Me" (#3.10).

"Men In Trees" will be pre-emted on January 4 for one night only.

Later next week, cable channel "Lifetime" begins the drama's off-network run on January 7, starting with the pilot episode. The first season of "Grey's Anatomy" will then air every Sunday this winter at 11:00 PM.

ABC Family To Air "Ugly Betty" Marathon

For those of you who have not seen the early episodes of ABC's truly brilliant new comedy "Ugly Betty" the network will now give you several opportunities to catch up with the show before the new episodes kick off in January.

ABC's sister network on basic cable, ABC Family will air a 10-hour marathon of all "Ugly Betty" episodes that have aired so far this season on Sunday, December 31 starting at 9am (the showcase ends at 7pm).

Starting tomorrow, December 25, all 10 episodes will also be available on ABC.com for viewers within the United States. Normally, the viewers can see the last episode aired as well as the previous 3 episodes, that is 4 episodes in total.

For a limited time, ABC.com will present all 10 episodes that have aired so far, until the show premieres the first new episode for 2007 (the episode "Swag" airs January 4), at which point the video player reverts to 4-episode archive.

This special offer will also apply to other ABC dramas currently available on its online video player. They are: Desperate Housewives (10 episodes), Lost (6 episodes), Grey's Anatomy (10 episodes).

As of tomorrow, Brothers and Sisters (10 episodes) and What About Brian (9 episodes) are also available under the same conditions.

Day Break and The Nine, the shows previously offered by ABC.com are no longer advertised, but ABC did promise to conclude Day Break's 13-episode run.

The drama's online broadcasts will however be delayed due to "unforeseen music clearance issues".

New LOST Spoilers: Kate and Sawyer Run

ABC's "Day Break" may be canceled, but the network has continued to present weekly LOST moments revealing upcoming storylines on the Golden Globe-nominated drama. The moments can now be seen every Friday morning on ABC.com.

Last week, a LOST moment revealed Jack's fate after the surgery that ended the tense cliff-hanger which aired on November 8. For more on that, click on the link below the article.

This week, we learn that Kate and Sawyer are on the run while still in contact with Jack. One is to presume this takes place in the opening moments of the February 7 episode when LOST returns to ABC.

Kate tells Jack they need a boat to get off the island. Jack turns to Tom (the man formerly know as Zeke) and asks about the boat. At this point, one of the three men chasing Kate and Sawyer shoots and hits Kate's walkie talkie destroying it with a bullet in her hand.

Kate and Sawyer run away from the beach and into the forest, looking for cover. Kate sees that one of the men is about to shoot her, when he himself is suddenly shot. Or at least that is what appears to happen to him.

Earlier spoilers have suggested that Juliet might come to Kate's and Sawyer's rescue, for whatever reason and shoot Pickett. The man shot at the end of this week's moment, however, is not Pickett.

Will all three men be shot? Why would Juliet help Kate and Sawyer? And if it was not her, who else would do so? Alex, the French woman's daughter? Karl, her boyfriend? Why did Pickett not obey Jack's orders and let Kate and Sawyer run when he knew his leader's life was at stake? Just a few of the questions LOST fans will be asking as the countdown to an all-new season continues.

The actor who redefines the expression "eye-candy" appeared only once last season, but was impressive enough for Shonda Rimes to bring him back in that unforgetta
