UPDATE: ABC Video Player Available Abroad After All

We may have finally resolved the puzzle. ABC Video Player is indeed available abroad. Here's how it works...

Would you like to watch the freshest episodes of 'Desperate Housewives', 'Lost', 'Grey's Anatomy' and other ABC hit shows from Europe, Africa or the Middle East? No problem.

Apparently, all you have to do (apart from having a fast broadband Internet connection for a high quality stream) is change the clock on your computer and set it to an American time zone (Eastern or Pacific).

That way, ABC's website will think you're accessing the free streams from North America.

Previously, ABC's video player would not allow anyone from a foreign location (including Canada) to view the shows. The player would not even open, but rather post a "this service is not available in your location" type of message.

Recently, ABC changed settings of its service allowing everyone to access the program, but only visitors with one of North American time zones would actually be able to view the videos.

It is not clear whether this change was introduced to allow Canadian visitors to see videos and how long these settings will be available.

CBS, NBC and FOX also run similar video on demand services, but neither one of those players is accessible from any other location other than the US.

It seems thah the local time setting trick does not allow anymore to see the online videos :-(
Last night it was working very well, now the player is unavailable for abroad connections (I'm from Italy)...

yes, I have just heard that ABC went back to the old format which no longer allows anybody from outside the US to access the player.

And that I'm afraid includes Canada, as well.

Oh, well... I suppose this topic is indeed closed now.
