"LOST" Moves, "Day Break" Ditched?
ABC has announced it is moving its hit series "Lost" to 10pm on Wednesdays to make make way for a two-hour comedy block, possibly killing the current 9pm series "Day Break" starring Taye Diggs, which may be gone for good after Christmas.
ABC's Wednesday night schedule started falling apart the moment their blockbuster reality series "Dancing with the Stars" and island mystery drama "Lost" ended their respective mini-seasons.
First the network pulled "The Nine" and now they have announced a new schedule effective January 3 with no mention of "Day Break". If the ratings improve, the drama may be burned off on a different night.
Since a new cycle of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" will not be starting before next spring, the network would not have a strong lead-in to "LOST" during February sweeps. The drama would be facing FOX's juggernaut "American Idol" as it did in the past. Things have, however, changed.
The ratings for the hit drama have already been somewhat off this season and now the network put the show on hiatus for three months.
In addition to that, CBS will be exposing their rising star "Criminal Minds" to an even greater audience when they give the show that coveted post-Super Bowl slot in early February, a move that made "Grey's Anatomy" a blockbuster on ABC this year.
That is why ABC will be moving "Lost" to 10pm making way for comedies According to Jim (8pm), George Lopez (8:30pm, starting January 24), Knights of Prosperity (9pm, NEW) and In Case Of Emergency (9:30pm, NEW).
News magazines will air in the 10pm slot until Lost returns February 7.
