Alma Hodge Crashes Bree's Dinner Party As "Desperate Housewives" Returns January 7
More details have emerged about the upcoming new episodes of ABC's Sunday night blockbuster "Desperate Housewives" and it all begins with a shocker: the woman all presumed dead crashes Bree Hodge's dinner party and it all ends in tears.
According to ABC's official press release concerning the first new episode of "Desperate Housewives" in 2007 entitled "No Fits, No Fights, No Feuds" scheduled to air on January 7, 2007 at 9pm:
"The residents of Wisteria Lane are shocked by Bree's surprise dinner guest".
What ABC have not said, but it is fairly obvious from the released promotional images, the guest in question is none other than Alma Hodge, Bree's husband's former wife whose disappearance puzzled the audience ever since the season opening teaser.
In the closing moments of the last episode prior to December hiatus, it was revealed Alma was alive and well and Orson's mysterious mother Gloria (the amazing Dixie Carter) was in touch with her.
Many have presumed the woman would remain in the background and continue to pull strings with the help of her former mother-in-law. But, Alma Hodge (Valerie Mahaffey) will return and confront her former husband Orson and his new wife Bree.
This will hardly be the end of the Orson Hodge mystery as the writers and producers of ABC's hit dramedy are rumored to adore Kyle McLachlan's performance as Orson Hodge and have decided to tweak his original storyline in order to expand his role.
After all, the police detective investigating Monique's murder will also crash the party. Does that mean the police are on to the idea that Mike Delfino, whom they had already put in jail, may not be the man they are looking for after all?
Also next week, Gaby will accuse Carlos of sabotaging her new relationship. Mark Deklin is listed among the guest stars for the episode, so his character Bill Pearce, the hunky father of the girl from Gabrielle's modeling class, returns to try to woo the material girl.
But, don't expect Bill to stick around for long. He will soon be out of the picture as Gabrielle's secret admirer (the one sending tons of flowers) is revealed and it is not Carlos.
Tom's daughter Kyla will return in this episode and the Scavos will do their best to make her feel at home.
And as if all this was not enough, expect the entire Young family, yes that's Paul (Mark Moses), Zach (Cody Kasch) AND Mary-Alice Young (Brenda Strong) to all make an appearance on the show in January.

Wow. Great stuff coming up. I love these preview posts you do. :) The writers are def. sharp on their game again with lots of surprises and twists in store.
I really hope Orson sticks around for more than a season. I really like Kyle's performance and he is so good with Marcia. Orson is really like the male Bree so they are a great match. It will be interesting to see how this mystery will end. I have no guesses at all.
Thank you. :)
Yes, Kyle has been a wonderful addition and he has great chemistry with Marcia Cross.
People thought no one could ever match Rex and they criticized Marc Cherry for killing him off, but Orson has definitely proven them wrong.
I also love this year's mystery. It's really unpredictable and compelling and it involves many of the core characters.
Kyle MacLachlan is a wonderful addition to the guest star cast and if Marc Cherry can pull strings, maybe he should be added as a season regular. I really love his character of Orson, and I thought he was some sick twisted person only to find out he was being set up by his own mother and former wife. Plus the character of Orson is understanding of Bree's son, Andrew, and that's a plus in my book. I really enjoy watching Kyle MacLachlan as Orson and Orson matches Bree so well 100%. They are a match made in heaven. :)
I'm still waiting for Andrew to go back to his conniving roots, though. Doesn't Gloria make a perfect grandmother to those Van De Kamp kids?
Now, what do you guys think about the mystery? What's your theory? Who killed Monique? Was it Alma and Gloria?
That's the conclusion the writers seem to be leading us to, but I'm always suspicious when there are obvious answers.
I have a perfect villain. Laurie Metcalf's Carolyn Bixby. We all know how she felt about women who sleep with married men. And she was psychotic.
Now, Alma was her friend. What if she found out about Orson's infidelity and killed Monique, not even being aware her own husband Harvey also had an affair with her? I just don't know how Mike Delfino and Orson running over him would fit into all of that.
If the writers went along with that, they could keep Kyle MacLachlan next year, too.
Who knows? Maybe even the writers don't know "whodunit" yet...
Anything is possible in the mind of Marc Cherry's.
All I know is that another man on Wisteria Lane will die this year, according to their press release. Gotta wonder who's gonna be killed off this year?
really? what press release? how come I missed that? lol...
I'm not sure if I'm crazy about that idea.
ever since 24 and prison break started killing off characters like crazy, everyone's doing it now...
Yeah, it could be something to throw the spoiler people off, but accordingly, it was the big thing for season 3.
