"Desperate" Stars Support Charity

"Desperate Housewives" Teri Hatcher and Eva Longoria made public appearances on Saturday, supporting charities of their choice - Keep Memory Alive Foundation (Hatcher) and PADRES Contra El Cancer (Longoria).

Eva accepted a $200,000 check from AT&T on behalf of her charity organization. The donation to PADRES will support families coping with the devastating effects of childhood cancer.

Hatcher and Longoria recently filmed their much-touted upcoming on-screen kiss, a ploy designed to help the 5-year old soap keep its recently weakened ratings strong. The kiss will air during the sweeps.

Wisteria Lane's self-centered materialistic vixen played by Eva Longoria is getting two overweight daughters when she and her castmates time jump to 2013 on an all-new season of ABC's "Desperate Housewives."

Fans are eager to see whether these bold changes will ruin the beloved Sunday night soap, or if the writers and actors manage to pull it off and keep the show fresh and at the top of its game.



Richardo Chavira, who plays Longoria's husband on the show, has in the meantime become proud father again, welcoming his second child, a daughter named Belen Elysabeth. He says the experience has made him extra protective of the 2 young girls hired to play his daughters on the show.

In an interview with TV Guide, Chavira said he was not sure whether 'Desperate Housewives' should be making fun of child obesity, when the problem is spiraling out of control in North America.

An upcoming storyline features Gaby, a former model, noticing her girls are not living up to her strict standards of physical appearance and discussing the matter with her husband Carlos who is still blind and now a little grey, too.



The plan is for Carlos to regain his sight in the course of the 5th season. In the meantime, he will try to earn some extra cash by working out of his home as massage therapist.

Surprisingly, Gaby who herself appeared somewhat bloated and overweight in last May's finale, appears in top shape in the new episodes. Perhaps Mrs. Parker was unhappy with her character's physical changes and had Marc Cherry scrap them for her.

Wisteria Lane's vampiest housewife Eva Longoria made a sexy appearance at the taping of Craig Ferguson's "The Late Late Show" a couple of days ago (set to air on Friday night) exposing her new shoes with a price sticker.

Earlier this week, Mrs. Parker began her late night promotional work for "Desperate Housewives" on NBC's Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

The actress who wishes to have a child in real life, will get to exercise her parental skills this fall as her alter ego Gabrielle Solis struggles as a mother to 2 overweight and hyperactive girls, following the show's infamous 5-year leap.

As the interviewer later notes in the studio, Eva does come across somewhat distant during the conversation.

The couple joined Will Smith and Charlize Theron for the opening night of their fantasy comedy "Hancock" in France on Monday.



Longoria recently denied Internet reports that she was pregnant and is looking forward to going back to the "Desperate Housewives" set next month.


The show will begin filming season 5 on July 7. Next season will have 24 episodes including a very special 100th episode set to air in early 2009.

Eva Longoria Promotes Magnum in Mexico

Desperate housewife Eva Longoria, the face of the Magnum ice cream brand produced by Unilever, made an appearance at a press conference and photocall In Mexico City on Friday to promote a new flavor called "Devotion."


Longoria, who recently hosted a media launch in Cannes at the "Magnum Manor", a villa that has been hired to promote the brand, endorses Magnum Ice Cream across the world.



Most recently, a new 7 million pound campaign for the "Mayan Mystica" flavor (a blend of cinnamon, honey and nutmeg) was launched in the UK.



The spot features Longoria in a Mayan temple, alluding to chocolate's supposed origins in the Mayan civilisation 2,500 years ago.

Eva Longoria Parker, the "Desperate Housewife" men in the US find the most desirable, celebrated her 33rd birthday in a strapless floral print Gucci dress at her new restaurant on Friday night, while her NBA star hubby Tony Parker was a no-show, losing a game with the New Orleans Hornets.

Longoria's co-stars Dana Delany and Marcia Cross, best male buddy Mario Lopez, rapper Eve, "Ugly Betty" star America Ferrera, celebrity hairdresser Ken Paves and her favorite singer - and long-time friend - Sheryl Crow were among those who came to wish Mrs Parker a 'Happy Birthday,' (although her actual birthday was on Saturday.)

Eva Longoria Parker's new Mexican restaurant "Beso" (Kiss) opened last night in a historic Hollywood location. Longoria's "Desperate Housewives" co-stars Nicolette Sheridan, Doug Savant and Felicity Huffman all made an appearance. Check out the pics from the opening, as well as a video of Longoria's pal, Extra's Mario Lopez, who came over for a tour.

Longoria's partner in the venture is celebrity chef Todd English (along with a number of other Hollywood investors). The chef is Robert Gonsalves, who's worked for English for more than 12 years.
