When Do My TV Shows Return?

December is the month when broadcast networks in the US air reruns of TV shows due to lower viewing levels during the holidays. Most of the series, however, return in early 2007. So, when do the shows premiere exactly?

Here are the 2007 premiere dates for all shows Televisionista is currently tracking. I'll be adding some shows in 2007.

ABC:
Ugly Betty (Thursday, Jan.4, 8pm)
Grey's Anatomy (Thursday, Jan.4, 9pm)
Desperate Housewives (Sunday, Jan.7, 9pm)
Brothers and Sisters (Sunday, Jan.7, 10pm)
Lost (Wednesday, Feb.7, 10pm)

CBS:
How I Met Your Mother (Monday, Jan.8, 8pm)
Jericho (Wednesday, Feb.14, 8pm)

NBC:
Friday Night Lights (Wednesday, Jan.3, 8pm)
The Apprentice (Sunday, Jan.7, 9:30pm)
Heroes (Monday, Jan.22, 9pm)
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (Monday, Jan.22, 10pm)

FOX:
The O.C. (Thursday, Jan.4, 9pm)
The Simpsons (Sunday, Jan.7, 8pm)
24 (Sunday, Jan.14, 8pm, then moves to Mondays)
American Idol (Tuesday, Jan.16, 8pm)
Prison Break (Monday, Jan.22, 8pm)

The CW:
Smallville (Thursday, Jan.11, 8pm)

NOTE: "Jericho" (CBS) and "Prison Break" return with preview shows. All-new episodes start the following week.

Hi, Cristi!

Thanks for the question.

I checked the latest press releases from NBC and here's how it is:

Friday Night Lights is definitely scheduled to return on Wednesday, January 3 (the 10th was the original plan). The episode is called "Under Pressure". I'll post some spoilers soon.

By the way, don't forget to check out the Friday Night Lights marathon. It starts this week in the show's new timeslot, Wednesday 8-11pm.

As far as Studio 60, I'm not sure about that. The 22nd is only my assumption since "Heroes" returns with all-new episodes the same evening.

NBC has not released any PR regarding new episodes of "Studio 60" for January yet. But their media village website publishes a two-week schedule, so as early as tomorrow we should know if the show returns on 8th of January or later.

I'll update the post with the correct date as soon as I know more.

About FNL is great that it start on January 3 (i found on futoncritic.com that the next ep is on January 10) and about Studio 60 i read it over tv.com (but I guess you'll know better).
If I stayed in US trust me I'll watch the FNL marathon, but I'm not so the only thing left for me is to wait to appear over the internet.
And if you don't mind I have another question : where I can find the press releases from NBC,ABC,FOX,etc about their tv-shows ?
Thanks.

Well Cristi, The Futon Critic which you mentioned is actually an excellent source for press releases.

You just have to check back regularly, because the networks sometimes change their schedules at the last moment (such decisions are often ratings-based).

You will see that they have also changed their FNL listings to Jan.3.

Networks own media websites (ABC Medianet, NBC Media Village) require user name and passwords which are given to media professionals for most of the content (especially HQ images) and some, like CBS Express, are not accessible at all, unless you have a password.

TV.com information is mostly user-based, so some of it may be inaccurate or incomplete, of course apart from the basic features (such as news and reports) which are put together by the creative team behind the website.
