ESPN Set for Beckham Bow
David Beckham fans will be happy to hear ESPN is ready to cover his Major League Soccer debut on multiple platforms on Saturday night, July 21.
Beckham's new team, the Los Angeles Galaxy, will play Chelsea F.C. of the English Premier League at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
As Hollywood press reports, ESPN's coverage begins at 6 p.m. EDT with "SportsCenter" and an extra half-hour at 7 p.m. that will focus exclusively on Beckham.
"David Beckham: New Beginnings," an hourlong documentary about the soccer star will follow at 7:30 p.m.
A half-hour pregame show will be hosted by Rob Stone and analyst Julie Foudy beginning at 8:30 p.m.
The match begins at 9 p.m. on ESPN with play-by-play announcer Dave O'Brien plus analysts Eric Wynalda and Tommy Smyth and sideline reporter Allen Hopkins.
According to ESPN, there will be 19 cameras, including a skycam, robotic goal cams and super slo-mo shots.
There also will be a camera isolating Beckham's actions during the match as well, which will be available on ESPN360.com.
And as if all that wasn't enough, you can catch David Beckham's debut over at ESPNSoccernet.com.
5 nights earlier (Monday, July 16 at 8/7c), NBC will air the much publicized Victoria Beckham's reality special "Coming to America" about her family's move to the US.
