"Sex and the City" Movie Greenlit
Hip! Hip! Hurrah! Those sassy Manhattan ladies - Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha - are definitely coming back to make prudes froth at the mouth again. The big screen version of the hit HBO series "Sex and the City" is a go!
As TV Guide reports, Sarah Jessica Parker - who recently entered the rag trade with her own inexpensive line of casual wear branded "Bitten" - joins Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Kim Catrall reprising their piquant roles.
The filming of the "Sex and the City" movie will begin in New York in September and HBO has closed a deal with New Line Cinema to distribute the feature which has been rumored since the hit series ended its 6-season run in February of 2004.
It is not clear at this early point which of the male cast members would be reprising their roles, but Chris Noth (Mr. Big), David Eigenberg (Steve Brady), Evan Handler (Harry Goldenblatt) and Jason Lewis (Jerry "Smith" Jerrod) are the likely contenders as they play the characters the ladies ended up with in the series finale.
The question remains - can the writers find a compelling way to reopen the storylines that they neatly wrapped up in the final episode and is there any sex-related topic that hadn't been used in at least one of the 94 episodes?

As a HUGE fan of SATC I'm so happy they are bringing back these characters to life.
I am worried as you are that it will be very difficult to resurrect them after such a long time and create a credible story that is engaging on the big screen.
Yay Samantha is coming back! Watch out men of Manhattan!
