The Beckhams W Photo Shoot

JULY 11, 2007: The Beckhams are zipping over to 90210 this week and to help build the buzz W Magazine is running a hot feature presenting Becks' tanned, rippling, tattooed torso and Vic's trademark petulant expression. Check out the steamy pics after the jump.

Can England's hottest couple succeed in America where pop sensations Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams have, dare I say, failed?

In addition to an NBC reality special, the Posh attack has begun with the introduction of Victoria's new denim line at Saks Fifth Avenue and other upscale outlets.

David's LA Galaxy soccer debut is set for July 21, when his new team plays against Chelsea.

Bring on the Beckham

Soccer star David Beckham is looking mighty sharp in his suit as he is getting a cup of iced coffee on the weekend. Becks may be taking fashion tips from his wife Posh who was ridiculed by UK tabloids for glamming it up even for a quick trip to a coffee house.

Meanwhile, that mindless rumor David was going to play one one half of the gay couple on ABC's "Desperate Housewives" is like a zit that just won't go away.

As if we haven't known for weeks who plays the new gay couple on Wisteria Lane, Eva Longoria has now told EXTRA Magazine the rumor was not true sparking headlines on the same websites that came up with that blunder in the first place.

David Beckham's Motorola Ads (VIDEO & Stills)

I was going to title this post "Beckham Beckons," but I do have to keep these posts search-engine-friendly, so I guess I'll be skipping my glitzy headlines. Mr. Posh Spice is going shirtless for the Korean market, plus a couple of images you may have seen on a billboard near you, a TV ad and a making-of video.

Beckham Breaks ESPN Records

1.5 million people tuned in to watch Saturday night's Chelsea Football Club-Los Angeles Galaxy game breaking ESPN records although David Beckham played for only 16 minutes. The soccer star and wife Posh were snapped on Tuesday shopping with son Romeo.

According to Hollywood press, the game was not only the most watched telecast among men 18-49 in the US on Saturday, but also the most-watched Major League Soccer game in the history of either ESPN or ESPN2.

The Beckhams and their son Romeo went shopping in Beverly Hills on Tuesday afternoon. The trio hit Maxwell boutique and upscale home store Geary's. A day earlier the paparazzi spotted Victoria driving her new Bentley with the top down.

VIDEO: Beckham Backlash Begins?

Has the Beckham backlash begun before their plane has even touched upon US soil? Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa, whom I have never found particularly funny, tried (and I would add failed) to be just that on their talk show on Wednesday.

Normally not known for celebrity insults, Regis and Kelly ridiculed the British couple and surprised their audience when he adopted an expression of a stupid Neanderthal and she stroke a hands-on-hips pose and began pouting at the camera.

Posh told W Magazine: "I think they have this impression that I'm this miserable cow who doesn't smile. But I'm actually quite the opposite." Some believe Victoria's personality may be too cold for Americans to swallow.

The Beckhams En Route to the United States

Teary-eyed David and Victoria Beckham and their three sons have boarded their plane at Heathrow airport and jetted off to begin a new life in the US. Before their departure Posh said: "I'm going to try to smile more in America."

David will be welcomed to his new club LA Galaxy at a press conference scheduled for Friday morning. A sexually charged photo spread in W magazine and an NBC reality special should also help create some buzz about their move.

But can the couple, who are iconic figures in their native Britain, break into US mainstream? According to a poll conducted by British tabloid Daily Mail, over 60% of readers believe Posh and Becks will be back in the UK within a year.

The couple will move into a Mediterranean style mansion in Beverly Hills, next door to their friends, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

David's first game takes place on Saturday, July 21. He and the team will be wearing the newly redesigned Los Angeles Galaxy jersey which David is posing in in the latest issue of Sports Illustrated.

Observes believe David Beckham's contract with LA Galaxy could earn the star player over 250 million USD.

Beckham's new team, the Los Angeles Galaxy, will play Chelsea F.C. of the English Premier League at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

As Hollywood press reports, ESPN's coverage begins at 6 p.m. EDT with "SportsCenter" and an extra half-hour at 7 p.m. that will focus exclusively on Beckham.

"David Beckham: New Beginnings," an hourlong documentary about the soccer star will follow at 7:30 p.m.

A half-hour pregame show will be hosted by Rob Stone and analyst Julie Foudy beginning at 8:30 p.m.

The match begins at 9 p.m. on ESPN with play-by-play announcer Dave O'Brien plus analysts Eric Wynalda and Tommy Smyth and sideline reporter Allen Hopkins.

According to ESPN, there will be 19 cameras, including a skycam, robotic goal cams and super slo-mo shots.

There also will be a camera isolating Beckham's actions during the match as well, which will be available on ESPN360.com.

And as if all that wasn't enough, you can catch David Beckham's debut over at ESPNSoccernet.com.

David Beckham Gets Own Reality Show

Soccer star David Beckham is getting his own reality show on British television similar to his wife's one-hour NBC special, but more football-focused. The program will follow the 32-year-old from his final match for Europe's Real Madrid to his new career with Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy. More on the story, plus several images taken at last Sunday's match, after the jump.

British tabloid The Sun reported on Tuesday that ITV special will chronicle Beckham's move across the Atlantic, but it will feature very little footage of his wife Victoria or their 3 sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz.

The special will give an insight into Beckham's own thoughts about the move. The network previously aired "David Beckham: A Footballer's Story," which followed his preparation for the 2006 World Cup.

The network hasn't decided when David's show will air on ITV.

It also plans to buy the rights to "Coming to America," which went from an originally planned six-episode series to a one-hour special after David was recalled to play for the English national soccer team.

"Coming to America" will premiere on NBC on Monday, July 16 giving the viewers an exclusive inside peek into the lives of former Spice Girl Victoria and her family in the US.

Injured Beckham Watches Real Madrid Win

Earlier today, injured soccer god David Beckham was forced to watch nervously the rest of the match between Real Madrid and Real Mallorca as did his wife Victoria with friends Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Madrid beat Mallorca 3-1 for the first time in Beckham's four years with the team. Check out candid images of David's practice on Friday, after the jump.

The 32-year-old soccer icon, who may have played his last professional game in Europe, was taken off the field in the 66th minute with what appeared to be a recurrence of an ankle injury. He still managed to limp around the field in celebration of his team's victory. Beckham is expected to have a strong impact on Major League Soccer in America where he will be playing for Los Angeles Galaxy.

Posh Spice Show On Ice?

FOX News is reporting today that Victoria Beckham's reality show that she had signed on to do upon her arrival in the United States may have been canceled before it even made it onto the air.

According to Neil Sean, a Sky News showbiz correspondent who reports for FOX - Sky's sister network - from London, production on Victoria Beckham's reality show was ceased after the studio realized "it didn't really work out."

The producers then brought on some scriptwriters to help Victoria appear funny. When that failed, too, they realized they needed her husband football star David Beckham to also appear on the show as the viewers would probably be interested to see their day-to-day interaction Nick-and-Jessica-style.

Due to his heavy schedule David could not appear on the show and since, as the Sky reporter said, the footballer is anyway "not exactly the brightest bulb in the box" and Victoria is not far behind, the project may have been axed.

Originally, the 6-episode series was going to focus on Victoria setting up her new home in Los Angeles, finding school for her children and jump-starting her career as a fashion designer.
