"Dance" Powers ABC To Victory

The battle of Mario Lopez vs. Emmitt Smith on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" powered the network to a mammoth victory with season-high 26,72 million viewers. The reality contest grew in its final half-hour to 28,6 million viewers.

That helped William Shatner's inane new game show "Show Me The Money" premiere with 15,72 million viewers in the first half hour, but the viewers quickly lost interest as by the end of the program only 9,52 million remained glued to ABC.

Over on NBC, "Friday Night Lights" is the second recently renewed TV series to hit season-low (5,52 million viewers) following announcement of its back-9 order (the first was ABC's What About Brian). NBC is expected to move the drama to Sunday nights in January, but it will be an uphill battle as this beautiful and critically-acclaimed series simply does not strike a chord with mass audiences.

The new CBS medical drama 3lbs premiered to disappointing 9,85 million at 10pm. Over on the CW, fan favorite Veronica Mars continues to lose a massive amount of its lead-in audience (2,74 mil vs. Gilmore Girls' 4,44 mil).
