TV Ratings: Shark Attacks ER
James Woods fronted drama "Shark" usually posts strong numbers in total viewers. Last night though in addition to being superior in viewers overall (14,71 million) the drama beat NBC's veteran medical series "ER" (9,14 million) for the first time in the 18-49 demo (4.0 vs. 3.7.)
"Ugly Betty" and "Grey's Anatomy" clip shows kicked off the ABC line-up with 8,14 and 12,58 million total viewers, respectively. The new sitcom "Notes from the Underbelly" was then sampled by 8,46 million viewers, an improvement of 700,000 viewers over last week's episode of "October Road."
The comedy moves to its new timeslot Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m.
CBS won the night with its successful line-up of "Survivor" (14,41 million,) "CSI" (21,87 million) an the aforementioned "Shark." The line-up is however down by double digits from last year's average.
NBC's "The Office" (7,69 million) scored more total viewers last night then "My Name Is Earl" (6,88 million). Just-renewed "30 Rock" and "Scrubs," which was back from hiatus, continue to post disappointing numbers of a little over 5 million viewers.
Finally, "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" continues to do better than any other program FOX has had on Thursdays at 8 in years. The game show scored 9,78 million viewers.
