Kate Walsh On The "Grey's Anatomy 2.0" Set ("Private Practice" Spoilers)
New images of actress Kate Walsh on what appears to be the set of the extended 2-hour May episode of "Grey's Anatomy" (that may serve as a pilot to her new spin-off series) have emerged. I say that's a great opportunity to recap what we have learned about the new ABC show thus far.
The episode will be entitled "The Other Side of This Life - Part 1 and 2". It will air on Thursday, May 3 from 9:00-11:00 p.m., with the encore telecast scheduled for Friday, May 4, 8:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT. The working title of the series is "Private Practice."
Following a disastrous romantic episode (most probably involving Dr. Alex Karev,) Addison Montgomery travels to Los Angeles to seek advice from her old medical school pals, Naomi (Merrin Dungey) and Jackson (Taye Diggs) who seem to have it all: a beautiful teenage daughter, a great marriage and a highly successful practice.
Addison quickly learns that Jackson, also a successful TV health guru, has divorced Naomi. During the visit, she meets people who work at the practice: a widowed alternative medical doctor, a self-doubting therapist, and a male gynecologist who knows little about women.
Although the personal lives of those people may be a mess, professionally they stand out. For this reason, she decides to leave Seattle Grace behind, move to Los Angeles and join the Oceanside Wellness Group team, that is should the ratings justify the drama's place in the ABC fall schedule.
Plastic surgery and psychiatry will be featured prominently at the practice as they are the staples of medical service in Hollywood. The drama is also expected to heavily explore its characters' sexuality.
In addition to Kate Walsh, Merrin Dungey (Alias) and Taye Diggs (Daybreak) the cast includes: Tim Daly ('The Nine',) Amy Brenneman ('Judging Amy',) Paul Adelstein ('Prison Break',) Bellamy Young ('CSI: Miami',) Chris Lowell ('Veronica Mars') and Sean Faris ('Reunion'.)
Michael Grossman who had previously directed an episode of "Grey's Anatomy" will direct this episode.
According to TV Guide, the rest of the regular cast of "Grey's Anatomy" may also appear in the episode, as the magazine revealed a violent confrontational scene which takes place between Meredith Grey and a male character.
There will be 2 more episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" after the May 3 episode. The season ends on May 17. The network will announce whether the new drama was picked up or not by/at the Upfronts in mid May.

If ever there were to be a show dead certain to be picked up at the May Upfronts it'd be this one.
Having said that I hate the working title (Private Practice), definatly the wrong title for the spin off.
