"Brothers & Sisters" Spoilers: Chad To Be Outed By Tabloids
Recently introduced closeted gay celebrity soap star Chad Berry played by "Sex and the City" Absolut Hunk Jason Lewis will be outed by tabloids in an upcoming storyline on ABC's drama "Brothers and Sisters".
Lewis who is signed for seven episodes of the drama has so far appeared in three installments and will continue his guest stint through the end of March. His character who has a girlfriend has secretly been dating the show's regular gay character Kevin Walker.
The writers are planning to tell the real-life story of many gay Hollywood actors today who despite all progress in perception of homosexuality in American society in recent years remain firmly locked "in the closet" fearing for their career if tagged by the press (and now also gossip blogs) as homosexual.
The show's openly gay executive producers, Jon Robin Baitz and Greg Berlanti, say they're proud to be telling a story that mirrors real life.
Baitz says the character of Chad was inspired in part by singer Lance Bass and TV stars T.R. Knight ("Grey's Anatomy") and Neil Patrick Harris ("How I Met Your Mother"), who publicly acknowledged their homosexuality last year.
A photo of Kevin and Chad will be posted on a website in an upcoming episode. That echoes a real-life incident in October involving former cast member Luke MacFarlane, who played Kevin's previous lover.
MacFarlane was photographed out on the town with "Grey's" Knight a week after Knight acknowledged his homosexuality. The photos were posted on the Web, causing bloggers (including myself, see the link to that post below this article) to speculate about a possible romance.
In the show, Berlanti says, the story line "begins sort of an outing witch hunt."
The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) calls the story line "a good example of the damage that can come from living in the closet. These [people] that are living duplicitous lives by not being out and honest about who they are, and in the process they are hurting themselves and those that they are lying to."

How did I know you would come up with this story? :P It's been out for a week now, but I'm kinda glad they're doing it on B&S to showcase how powerful the internet can be and how living a double life is very harmful. People, mainstream, should just accept that being an artist (of any type) = a high percentage are gay...period.
Poor Luke MacFarlane...brought up again as an analogy. :( Will this never die down for him?

You do realize that Luke's... cough, cough... friendship with T.R.Knight is too juicy of a story to miss out on? Especially now when art is about to imitate life.
Justin,
I know what you mean. But it's so weird that they're bringing it back to the limelight when the rumor has died down considerably.
But remember, two guys going out never equates to being anything more than just friends, even if one is gay.

Or two... :)
I think it's adorable how protective you are of Luke, KC (does he know what a huge fan he has in you?), and although I agree that just being seen with a gay man does not necessarily mean one is more to them than friends, honestly what would you expect people to think, just days after TR came out and Luke shared a gay kiss on network TV?
Besides, the media constantly speculates about heterosexual people dating, whenever a, say single actor is seen with a single actress, the tabloids will immediately indicate that the two may be in a relationship, so I don't see why the same principle shouldn't apply to gay actors.
Hopefully, the blogging phenomenon will help destroy that disgusting thing called the Hollywood closet once and for all.
