Grey's Anatomy #311: "Six Days - Part 1"
Papa O'Malley takes his treatment into his own hands, Izzy deposits her check (finally!), we learn too much about Derek and Meredith and a vanilla latte brings Alex and Addison together.
It has been well over a month since the last new episode of "Grey's Anatomy" and this sure felt like an episode worth the wait.
Arrested Development alum Mae Whitman who also appeared on ABC's "Desperate Housewives" two months ago, guest stars as a feisty 17-year old who desperately needs an expensive spine-straightening surgery.
Voicing what viewers have been thinking since the beginning she snaps one of the more memorable lines of the episode when she tells Izzy she is "too hot to be a doctor". She might as well said that to just about anybody at Seattle Grace.
Speaking of Izzy, the woman breaks down as she takes her greasy and stained 8,7 million dollar check into the bank to deposit in a somewhat awkward high-pitched scene. You do know where $200,000 of that money is going next week, right?
Oh, Georgie... Wasn't he just adorable when he told his father to stop acting like he's dying? And he sure made me laugh when Callie tried to "stare him down" (so that's how Bailey does it) and he told her she was scaring him.
Having said that, I am not sure that little funny dance he and Callie did after he exclaimed "130 cc's of shiny yellow urine!" didn't feel a bit forced, but Debra Monk's motherly look after they kissed sure made the scene feel genuine again.
Finally, we really have to hand it out to Alex. What a mischievous little piece of work he is. After Addison asks him why he made Sloan angry by bringing him vanilla latte he hates, his replies "because he was rude to you". So simple, so brilliant.
Will Papa O'Malley survive part 2? Will Denny's money help a good cause? And will Meredith find a way to speak to her father? Tune in this week to find out.
