"Desperate Housewives" Spoilers: Musical Episode; Edie's Sister; New Mystery?
There have been many spoilers about the upcoming fourth season of "Desperate Housewives" which goes into production this week and is tentatively set to premiere on September 23 in the US. Here's a little recap.
Variety reported last week "Housewives" may go where "That 70s Show," "Buffy" and "Scrubs" have gone before. The dramedy creator Marc Cherry, a long-time Stephen Sondheim fan who names "Housewives" episodes after his songs, is considering doing a musical episode this season.
Last season, Cherry came up with the idea for two very special episodes: a critically-acclaimed supermarket standoff episode "Bang" and an episode narrated by actor Steven Culp (Rex Van De Kamp) told from a male perspective.
Meanwhile, it appears Nathan Fillion will join "Desperate Housewives" after all. Although the producers have yet to confirm the casting reported by Hollywood press last week, the actor has said in a blog post on his My Space page he is working out in the gym to prepare for his "Housewives" role.
Fillion will play Adam, a young gynecologist who is married to Wisteria Lane's returning neighbor played by Dana Delany. Allegedly, Adam gets to put his head into Susan Mayer's crotch in the season opener. Unlike Delany, Fillion will not be a series regular.
Meanwhile, it seems the new mystery this year may have something to do with this family. According to rumors, Delany's character Katherine shouts at her daughter ("Heroes" alum Lyndsay Fonseca) when she inquires about a locked room in the house that belonged to them 10 years before. Adam is shocked by his wife's outburst.
Since last December, tabloids have speculated about the arrival of Edie's sister (Nicolette Sheridan) and Austin's mom (Josh Henderson) Helen McCann. Rumor had it the character would be played by the British actress Claire King who is known for playing superbitches in UK soaps. Although the British tabloid The Sun confirmed the story in April, no one involved with the production has said anything. In any event, Edie is expected to survive her suicide attempt.
Lynette will continue to deal with her cancer (loss of hair may be one of the plot twists) and Polly Bergen remains on the show as her mother. Also, John Slattery and Mike Ferrell return as Victor and Milton Lang. Mike Delfino's brother Terry has yet to be cast.

Sounds like a cool year ahead. I am liking the new characters already. And having Bree back will be nice.
...musical episode, really? I understood when Scrubs did it (even though I didn't care for it), but a show like DH? I really don't think it'll work. Hmm, I wonder if Art (the presumed pedophile) will be back. I really enjoyed Art's storyline, I liked how Art really was a dangerous character. I doubt he'll be back, I know people considered it too dark for DH.
