"Brothers & Sisters" Spoilers: Justin Returns from Iraq Physically Challenged
USA Today reports actor Dave Annable, whose character Justin Walker went to Iraq in the May season finale of ABC's "Brothers & Sisters," is coming back in the show's sophomore season, but his alter ego won't be coming back in quite the same condition.
When Justin rejoins his wine-loving and quarreling California family he will have to deal with serious physical issues. Although the drama creator Jon Robiz Baitz ruled out Justin coming back as an amputee, he would not fully reveal the new twist.
When the drama premiered in September 2006 Justin had already battled post-traumatic stress and turned to drugs as a result of his first experience of war, in Afghanistan. Will he go back to drugs to deal with the new challenge?
The politically-split Walker family often argues about the war in Iraq with liberal Democrat mom Nora (Sally Field) getting into constant arguments with her conservative Republican daughter Kitty (Calista Flockhart). The question is how will Justin's new condition reflect on that argument?
Justin may return blind, paralyzed or at least scarred. The condition itself, as well as the way he deals with it, may fuel the Iraq debate on each side. Will the constant bickering turn into a more serious conflict within the family? Will the Iraq war torn the Walker family apart?

Although it might have been a big shocking plot point to bring Justin back as an amputee, I'm not so sure it would serve the series well long term in terms of plot development. Although it would certainly fuel debates, I agree. I hope they give the poor guy a break, he's already been through the ringer with his post traumatic stress and drugs the first time around!
