VIDEO: "Vote For The Worst" Creator on the Late Show with David Letterman
The creator of votefortheworst.com website which has generated quite a bit of publicity in recent weeks with its support of Sanjaya Malakar as part of ongoing efforts to mess with the "American Idol" concept, appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman earlier this week.
Dave Della Terza, the man behind the project "American Idol" producers love to dismiss as completely insignificant, has seen traffic to his website surge in recent weeks because of the Sanjaya Malakar controversy, reaching as many as 10 million hits per week.
Terza calls "American Idol" fake and manipulated and said the site was conceived on the "Survivor Sucks" message board as a response to artificial nature of prime time reality shows.
Terza explains FOX lawyers have threatened to take legal action against him in the past but have yet to follow up on their threats.
The website is currently conducting a poll among the visitors to try to determine which contestant needs the support next.
Personally, I find the website brilliant from a purely business point of view.
Whether or not one condones how the website affects the "American Idol" formula, the simple fact of the matter is - perhaps initially not even aware of where he was headed with this, Terza managed to create a very successful, albeit highly seasonal, little business.
