AT THE MOVIES: Adam Brody's "In the Land of Women" Opens Today
"The O.C." cutie Adam Brody stars in the new Lifetimesque Meg Ryan movie (or is it the other way around?) "In the Land of Women" opening nationwide today. Here are the movie synopsis, promo stills, trailer and some photos from the premiere on Monday night.
Brody plays Carter Webb, a young TV writer who thinks he has found everything he wants in Sophia, his supermodel girlfriend. But it wasn't meant to be as Carter is dumped by Sophia in a North Hollywood coffee shop.
Depressed, Carter escapes Los Angeles, heading across the country to suburban Michigan to care for his ailing grandmother of eccentric and complicated personality, who gives Carter a uniquely different perspective on life.
Carter stumbles into the lives of the family living directly across the street, Sarah Hardwicke, the mother of two daughters: Paige, a precocious eleven-year-old and her older sister Lucy, an angst ridden teenager.
Through his relationships with these women, as well as his grandmother, Carter begins to discover that what felt like the end was really only just the beginning of his adventure.
The movie is directorial debut of actor Jon Kasdan who also penned the script. Apart from Brody and Ryan, the movie also stars Olympia Dukakis as the semi-deranged grandmother.
