TV Ratings: "American Idol" Roars Its Way Back On FOX
Every single year ABC, CBS and NBC hope this would be the year "American Idol" slides a little in the ratings. No such luck in 2007. American Idol was back bigger than ever last night with as many as... are you ready?... 42 million Americans tuning in at 9:30 PM!
The show averaged over 37 million viewers for its special two-hour season premiere 8-10pm (up from 35,5 million from last year's premiere). FOX will air yet another two-hour installment tonight. For this year's AI schedule (which is, as ever, subject to change) click the link below the article.
Another big winner of the night was NCIS on CBS. Despite airing against American Idol at 8pm, the CBS drama scored over 16 million viewers. That makes the show the network's true unsung hero.

Don't know how much they have had before but this is a lot! But I love AI and this season will problably be as good as the previous!
btw, I just found ur blog and I love it!
Thank you, Gabi! :)
They normally had 30-35 million on Tuesdays and a bit less on Wednesdays or Thursdays.
It's really unusual for any show, let alone reality program, to grow in its sixth year.
Idol is a monster hit!
Don't forget the fact that they're changing it a bit this year with a new twist. So, we'll see what that is. Plus everyone loves to see these delusional kids get rejected. It's quite a laugh riot seeing them all cry because they were rejected. Peeps, it's called "rejection" and it's quite typical in auditions.
