WHO IS THIS MAN?
Since the third season premiere episode on October 4, fans of ABC's "Lost" across the US (and let's face it, thanks to the magic of the Internet, also across the world) have had a lot of new questions and mysteries on their mind and one of those is the identity of a mysterius young man who appears for the very first time as he is locked in a cage next to Sawyer and the only thing we learn is that his name is Karl.
The boy knew Sawyer had been in a plane crash and tried to warn him about the shocking device in the bear cage's food delivery system. He attempted to run away and helped Sawyer unlock his cage. He was then quickly captured and beaten by the Others and forced to apologize to Sawyer for helping him escape, just before being taken away, his fate unknown.
Then last week, Alex Rousseau secretly approached Kate to ask if she knew anything about his whereabouts. Kate had never seen him, as once she was put into his cage, he had already been taken away by the Others.
There have been many speculations about this man. Some have suggested he was planted by the Others as part of an ongoing experiment on the captives. Others believe he may be linked to Kate and her past and the reason he ended up on the island was to find her. Also, there have been theories that he may have been on the crashed plane himself, taken into custody early on.
Whatever the truth, the Lost executive producers have promised in their weekly ABC podcast that Karl's true identity will be addressed shortly and we will find out exactly who he is and what he is looking for on the island by the end of the sixth episode (mini-season finale). One thing the producers did confirm was that Karl is not one of the Others and he was not planted by them as part of an experiment. He is a legitimate captive.
