TV Ratings: Monday (April 14, 2008)
CBS comedy line-up takes a dive, "Samantha Who" follows suit, and a new timeslot for CW's "One Tree Hill" may be dragging the show down. On the other hand, I still say it's the spring, and all these missing eyeballs will be catching up on the DVR.
Following last week's absence, CBS' comedy line-up was back with originals, but the ratings went down. It appears however, the 8:30 timeslot which is closer to the #1 comedy on TV "Two and a Half Men" does bring more eyeballs.
Even with these deflated numbers, "How I Met Your Mother" exceeded "The Big Bang Theory" as it did every time since both shows returned one month ago, having swapped the timeslots.
Meanwhile, "Samantha Who's" amnesia schtick may be wearing a little thin, as the show that averaged 14-15 million viewers last fall scored fewer than 10 million viewers last night, despite airing after "Dancing with the Stars" again. The show has already been renewed for a 2nd season, though.
Finally, an all-new "One Tree Hill" did worse than what it used to average on Tuesday nights, but the show is coming back next year, so there's no danger. "Gossip Girl" returns with new episodes next week, and may help OTH cross the 3 million mark again.
