ABC's "Cashmere Mafia" Delays All-New "Brothers & Sisters"

ABC has announced the special premiere of its new "Sex and the City" wannabe drama "Cashmere Mafia" will no longer air after what may be the first and the last 2008 episode of "Grey's Anatomy," opting to launch the series after what may be the first and the last 2008 episode of "Desperate Housewives," instead. What about "Brothers & Sisters," though?

"Cashmere Mafia," which was conceived by "Melrose Place's" Darren Star, will now premiere on January 6 at 10/9c.

That means that the previously announced broadcast of the next all-new episode of ABC's family saga "Brothers & Sisters" is delayed till January 13. ABC Studio has been able to film 3 additional episodes of the show.

Unfortunately, now neither one of those 3 episodes will have the luxury of airing after an all-new "Desperate Housewives" as that show has only 1 episode left and goes into repeats January 13.

ABC believes "Desperate Housewives" will be a much more fitting launching pad for the new Lucy Liu-fronted sudser. The 2nd episode airs just three days later, on Wednesday, January 9 in its regular timeslot at 10/9c, replacing "Dirty Sexy Money."

As for Thursday, January 3 an all-new episode of "Ugly Betty" ("Zero Worship") is no longer on the schedule, and the network is repeating the infamous tornado episode of "Desperate Housewives" after the last all-new episode of "Grey's Anatomy."

There are 3 all new episodes of "Ugly Betty" and they are expected to air on January 10, 17 and 24 (before the return of "LOST" on January 31). New episodes of "Brothers & Sisters" will air January 13, 20 and 27.
