TV Ratings: Will "Desperate Housewives" Beat "Grey's Anatomy"?
We have to wait till Sunday to see how an all-new "Desperate Housewives" does this week (unless you count Sunday as the first day of the next week, in which case we already know the ratings for last Sunday), but it seems the Wisteria Lane-set dramedy may finally beat ABC's powerhouse "Grey's Anatomy" in both total viewers and adults 18-49! Way to go, ladies.
Last Sunday,"Desperate Housewives" scored 18.55 million viewers and a 7.3 rating in the 18-49 demo. Last night, "Grey's Anatomy" pulled in 17.67 million viewers and a 7.1 rating. Of course, the results of the latter are based upon fast nationals and are subject to change. Meanwhile, CSI on CBS was the #1 show with 20.8 million viewers, but a much weaker 6.4 rating among adults 18-49.
CBS was not very lucky at 10 p.m. The network tried to give the series premiere of its risky musical drama "Viva Laughlin" the most luxurious timeslot on the schedule - behind CSI, the #1 show on television. The results were disastrous. The show lost more than half of that audience averaging 8.83 million viewers.
Now can we have Eric Winter back on "Brothers & Sisters" romancing Matthew Rhys? Pretty please?
Haters of ABC's boardroom and bedroom drama "Big Shots" will be happy to hear the show lost quite a few viewers last night averaging 8.34 million viewers and sinking to a little over 7 million in the second half hour.
There was some discussion whether "Big Shots" is doing better or worse than "Dirty Sexy Money." What is there to discuss? BS pulls in 8 million out of "Grey's" 17 mil, while DSM scores 9 million out of "Private Practice's" 12 mil. Hello!

ABC must moved Big Shots to DSM´s timeslot and DSM to Big Shots´s time slot... that will be OK.
omg justin i totally agree. eric winter, go back to b&s!!
Hi Justin,
I haven't commented in a long time, but just wanted to let you know that I'm still an avid reader. :) I always check your site daily!
I really, really hope Desperate Housewives can garner higher than Grey's Anatomy this week. *Crosses fingers*
I quit on Grey's a long time ago... I just don't have interest in it anymore. :(
Season 4 has been amazing and I agree with you that the 'magic' is back. It's really funny, it's exciting, it's dramatic... DH at its best again. This season is sharp, witty, fast-paced, and truly engaging. I love the new mystery - really has everyone guessing. Katherine is a brilliant addition to the already phenomenal set of characters/stories/cast. Ahh... I could go on and on, but I'll stop. :P
I can't wait to see more. :)
You should definitely catch Samantha Who? if you can. It is a truly hysterical and very charming sitcom - the best one I've seen in a long time. It's refreshing and the leading actress simply shines.
Brothers & Sisters is quickly becoming my favorite family drama of all times. I simply love the cast and the extraordinary writing.
I haven't gotten a chance to watch Pushing Daisies or Dirty Sexy Money yet, but seeing how you rave about them so much makes me want to give them a try. I'm kind of waiting for ABC to give the full season order so that I don't devote time and then find out that they don't make it...
Well, take care and continue the great job! :D
