TV Ratings: "Idol"; "LOST" Win Final Sweeps Night
The 2006-2007 television season is officially over with FOX winning the final night of May Sweeps as 29,47 million viewers tuned in to see Jordin Sparks being crowned "American Idol" during the 2-hour and 10-minute telecast.
The talent competition began the night with 22,9 million viewers gradually building the audience to 34,9 million who tuned in to see the announcement of the results. The overall ratings are however 16% down over last year's finale.
The mother-of-all-twists on "LOST" generated an audience of 13,65 million viewers. The drama also recorded stellar growth throughout the 2-hour telecast.
The show opened at 9pm with 12,2 million viewers and ended in the final half hour with 15,45 million.
I will continue to report the ratings of a number of summer shows (tonight's premiere of "So You Think You Can Dance," for instance) but given the abundance of reruns, the reports will be less frequent and more concise.

Lost finally picked up and hopefully the, "WTF?" twist at the end will keep them back for next year.
