ABC Renews 11 Shows for the 2007-2008 Season
Congratulations to the cast and crew of freshman hits "Ugly Betty" and "Brothers & Sisters", major blockbusters "Desperate Housewives", "LOST" and "Grey's Anatomy", as well as shows "on the bubble" "Men In Trees" and "Boston Legal" which all made the cut for the 2007-2008 season.
The Alphabet network has announced the pickups Wednesday as ABC presented its development slate to media buyers, who are in town this week to meet with most of the broadcast networks.
"We have had a strong year, with two of the season's breakout hits, 'Ugly Betty' and 'Brothers && Sisters,' and the solid performance of 'Men in Trees,' " ABC Entertainment president Steve McPherson said.
"These shows provide us with a substantial foundation to make 2007-08 our best schedule yet," McPherson added.
Reality shows "Dancing With the Stars," "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and "The Bachelor" as well as the late night talker "Jimmy Kimmel Live" have also been renewed.
The pickups join reality entries "America's Funniest Home Videos," "Supernanny" and "Wife Swap," that had already received early renewals for the 2007-2008 season.
The shows that remain on the bubble are the dramas "What About Brian," "October Road" and "Six Degrees," as well as comedies "According to Jim", "George Lopez" and "In Case of Emergency."
The dramas "The Nine" and "Daybreak" and the comedies "Knights of Prosperity", "Help Me, Help You" and "Big Day" are not expected to return the next season, but they have yet to be officially canceled.
The network has yet to launch the comedy "Notes From the Underbelly" and the drama "Traveler."
The fate of the low-rated shows will depend on the strength of the network's current pilot development.
If executed well, TV version of the big screen blockbuster "Mr. and Mrs. Smith", Greg Berlanti's (showrunner on 'Brothers & Sisters') new Dynastyesque drama "Dirty Sexy Money" and the American version of the British hit "Football Wives" could fill many of the spots on the fall schedule and make ABC the network to beat in 2007-2008.

According to Jim is over this year, I heard that the show decided to end it because the actress who played Jim's wife decided to leave, and the show woudlnt be the same without her. And since Jim doesnt get great ratings, I highly doubt that ABC will object to this.
I don't see any of the sitcoms returning, nor Six Degress or Bryan. I think that these shows, are the shows that will be back next year, and the ONLY shows that will be back. The only other possible renewals are the new shows, such as October Road, and Traveler. I don't predict Notes to be a hit. But October Road and Traveler are the only possible shows that I predict have any hope of renewal.
And hopefully this will shut up all the people who were saying that Lost was going to be cancelled this year.
I first heard about all of these 07/08 pick ups hear and I was so excited. With Desperate Housewives, Greys Anatomy, Lost, Ugly Betty etc all getting another season plus the news Greys spin off, Football Wives and Mr and Mrs Smith I really believe ABC when they say that there 2007-2008 schedule will be there best yet.
If I were ABC I'd kill all of the sitcoms. I mean - why even bother? Just give LOST a proper lead-in. Not that it needs it.
