"Galactica" Alum Goes "Bionic" & More Casting News
Freshly killed off Katee Sackhoff of Sci-Fi's "Battlestar Galactica" has joined another remake of a 70's genre TV classic, NBC's pilot "The Bionic Woman." Meanwhile, Julia Ormond joined "Mr. and Mrs. Smith", while Jane Curtin has signed on for "Nice Girls."
"The Bionic Woman" stars British actress Michelle Ryan as Jaime Sommers, a woman who has her body reconstructed with cyborg-like artificial body parts after a horrific accident, thereby giving her extraordinary strength, speed and hearing.
Sackhoff will play an evil bionic woman in the pilot, which is co-written and executive produced by "Galactica's" David Eick. She'll be billed as a guest star in the pilot; it's unclear whether she could recur if the show is picked up to series.
Julia Ormond has meanwhile joined "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," which continues the story of married assassins from the 2005 movie starring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
She'll play Jane Smith's (Jordana Brewster) boss in a role that would likely be recurring if the pilot is picked up.
Jane Curtin, who co-starred in ABC's short-lived "Crumbs" last season, will play a seen-it-all secretary in "Nice Girls," a workplace comedy about a young woman (Jayma Mays) trying to find her place in the corporate world.
Finally, ABC has also added Lourdes Benedicto ("The Nine") to the cast of "Cashmere Mafia" and Spencer Garrett ("Bobby") to "Football Wives."
