What's Next For ABC's "Desperate Housewives"? Spoilers Galore!
In an exclusive interview with MediaVillage, the creator of ABC's "Desperate Housewives" Marc Cherry reveals some big twists coming up this spring on television's most wicked cul-de-sac. Also, how does Bree's storyline wrap up?
As you may know already, big changes are in store for the ladies on Wisteria Lane this March following the conclusion of Bree Van De Kamp's storyline in episode #15 on February 18.
Nicolette Sheridan will become front and center of the show getting a lot more screen time as her character Edie develops a romantic relationship with Carlos.
In the first new episode in March, she will be visited by her former husband and her 9-year-old son whom the writers promised to introduce on many earlier occasions. It seems, however, the moment has finally arrived.
In his interview, Marc Cherry revealed there will be two weddings on Wisteria Lane before the season ends. One big splashy wedding and then another one, very quick, shot-gun wedding.
New York Post was quick to suggest it may very well be Susan and Ian who will be walking down the aisle.
Do remember, however, that spoiler sources have indicated Ian will find the ring Mike intended to give Susan and break up with her on February 18.
On the other hand, Gabrielle will meet a distinguished gentleman 15 years older than her in the first March episode. Could she be the one tying the knot in May? Or will it be her ex Carlos and Edie?
As for the quickie... Could it be a pregnant Danielle and her lover Austin? Whatever the case, March Cherry promises there will be a disaster in the love triangle of Julie, Austin and Danielle.
Also, following all start-up troubles and early success in their new restaurant business, Tom's back will give out and Lynette will be forced to run the pizzeria all by herself.
Finally, Marc Cherry explained that although it would be impossible to top the amazing supermarket hostage standoff episode from November, he does have several "out-of-the-box" ideas for the future, including a special episode for this spring told from a strictly male point of view.
Cherry therefore confirmed Steven Culp will be returning as Rex Van De Kamp to narrate the episode from "the other side".
Now, where does all of that leave Bree (Marcia Cross) who will make an appearance in only two more episodes before she leaves town on February 18?
Marcia Cross who was put on bed rest in early January will appear in two all-new episodes scheduled for February as the crew was able to shoot several scenes with the actress lying in bed at her home.
On-screen, Bree falls of a ladder in the February 11 episode and remains confined to bed. Her son Andrew blames his stepfather Orson for her accident, a moment that triggers Andrew's return to his evil roots.
Rumor has it someone attempts a suicide jumping of a roof of Fairview's Sacred Hearts Hospital and spoiler sources indicate it may well be Orson himself desperate to end it all. Or was it just an accident?
Orson will survive the fall and subsequently reveal to a psychiatrist the truth about his family's sinister past - his abusive father's suicide, his mother blaming him for the suicide and as a result, his stay at a mental institution as a teenager.
Speaking of Gloria, Orson's evil mother may need some new living arrangements come spring after her brain hemorrhage leaves her paralyzed and unable to communicate.
Meanwhile, Alma is also punished for plotting against Orson - her miscarriage may leave her unable to bear children.
Please take into account that spoilers regarding Bree's storyline are based upon early scripts, they have not been confirmed by Marc Cherry, ABC or Touchstone Studios and should therefore be treated as rumors.

Thanks for the spoilers! :)
I can't wait to see what happens next. Gotta say I am really gonna miss Bree. I hope her story ends well.
I am not pleased with the whole Zach/Gabby thing at all. :\ It just weirds me out. I'm excited to see more Edie. She is highly underused.
Ian/Susan should NOT be getting married. Everyone knows Susan doesn't love Ian [that much]. She's just trying to fool herself. She should just break his heart now instead of dragging this doomed relationship. I will be so upset if she marries him and ends up having an affair with Mike [i.e Carrie/Big in "Sex and the City" when she was with Aiden].
I still can't imagine "Desperate Housewives" without Bree. Although giving Edie more screen time was a brilliant idea.
I believe the Zach/Gaby thing will soon be over. I just wonder if Zach sticks around or not. I guess he will be a recurring character. Not that we wouldn't be happy to put the whole Youngs/Felicia Tillman thing behind, right?
It just occurred to me - perhaps it will be Susan and Mike getting married in May. I suppose we're all tired of their on/off relationship. I'd say it'd be refreshing if they became one the married couples on Wisteria Lane in the fourth season.
As much as I want to see Susan/Mike together again, I don't think they'll be together until much later on. The TV Gods don't like it when the main couple gets together too soon and/or too happy together [i.e. Ross/Rachel from "Friends]. :P Also, I don't know where the plot for Susan can go if she marries Mike? It just seems like a dead-end/conclusion for the character if she gets her happy-ever-after with Mike [but with this show, nothing is ever happy for long. Haha].
I am bored of the Youngs. I really can't bring myself to care about them after season 1 ended [and maybe 1/2 through season 2] - but I do like it when Mary Alice appears on screen. It was a shame they cut her flashback with Gabby. However, I absolutely love Felicia. She is hysterical.
I do hope they'll do something with Zach/Mike. That could be interesting.
I guess that is why I don't get to write for television. You're absolutely right. Marrying Mike and Susan off would kill the show. And they already dodged one bullet by resolving the Mary Alice mystery.
Yes, Felicia was amazing. But what would she be doing? Resolving the murder of the sister she never loved (although I guess she did in some weird Tillman/Huber kind of way) was her only drive.
*Sigh* I know, there's really nothing they can do with Felicia's character. I really liked how Felicia would say her sister was such a bad person and that the world was a better place when she died, but deep down she still loved her. :P
Honestly, Susan feels like such a dead-end to me at this point after the whole Ian thing is resolved. In a way, I want Julie to get pregnant cause that would be a hilarious storyline for Susan. However, it would be so much funnier/interesting if Danielle was pregnant - but either of the two is fine. I really cannot take all of the uninteresting new love interests they create for Susan. Dr. Ron, Ian... both were so drab. Thank god Orson was for Bree and not Susan. Karl and Mike are the only two that are genuinely good and interesting to watch with Susan.
For that matter, Gabrielle feels like a dead-end too. The pageant thing is funny, but a bit ridiculous. You already know how I feel about Zach. I'm not sure how the new love interest is. I really, really want Gabby/Carlos together again. They have so much chemistry. I also hope they will give Gabby a baby eventually. I was rewatching season 2 recently and she was so sweet with baby Lily.
Lynette also seems a bit dead-end as well. I'm not crazy about the whole pizzeria thing.
And Bree... well, she will be gone in 2 eps time and I have no idea how that'll work out and what they'll do with her when she returns.
I'm liking forward to seeing how Carlos/Edie will develop though. :)
