"Ugly Betty" Shocker: Rebecca Romijn Is Daniel's Brother!
JANUARY 19, 2007: Sources had promised ABC's "Ugly Betty" would deliver a TV's first in the January 18 episode introducing Rebecca Romijn as the mysterious masked woman and they were right. Last night, "Betty" unveiled Rebecca Romijn's character as Alex, Daniel's presumed dead brother, post-sex-change.
Series creator Silvio Horta said to TV Guide: "While we were shooting the pilot," he explains, "I got to the point where Wilhelmina screws Daniel over, and I felt at the end it just needed something else. Something bigger. So I wrote a scene between her and a mysterious woman."
The over-the-top role reversal will have, however a more profound message: "[We're] going to get into a little bit more of what Alex went through and the reality of her experience. It's sort of like the show itself — there's great comedy to be had, but there's also a real strong, emotional story there that I think will move people."
The comedy will introduce one of Alex's former flames in a future storyline. Meanwhile, Rebecca Romijn returned to the set of the show on Wednesday along with show star America Ferrera and the rest of the cast, following the comedy's big win at the Golden Globes on Monday.
The cast was shooting a scene in freezing cold at the Santa Monica Pier wearing Ugg boots in between takes to keep warm. According to sources, Rebecca (34) and America (22) got along with each other very well and even went out for lunch together.
Meanwhile, the show's supporting actor Michael Urie who plays Wilhelmina's gay assistant Mark has revealed to TV Guide that he was promoted to show regular and therefore may have a more prominent role in the future.
Becki Newton who plays Amanda and who attended the Globes ceremony with Urie disclosed we may not have seen the last of Ugly Ruthie, the second character she played in last week's episode.

i think you mean Daniels brother not Davids
Omigod! What a mistake! Of course I mean Daniel's brother. Where's that damn latte of mine?! :)
Thanks. :)
I was wondering who the hell David was. I was like...who the frak is David? :P
Oh, common now! Even my wonderful self is only human... :)))
Hehe, just teasin' ya, Justin. <3
Alexa is really Fay - did anyone listen to the entire series? The conversations between Wilhemina and Fay at the beginning - who knows - but I am thinking that - that is the case. Otherwise why would Alex try to destroy his father. Who knows???????? Fay certainly would.
