Ugly Betty #111: "Swag"
Yes-shi! Daniel's fiscal responsibility was at stake; Betty stole Henry's breakfast and heart; minimalist jokes and swag-hungry fashionistas ran wild; Walter stalked his way back into Betty's heart; and an over-priced bag saved the day on an out-of-order episode of "Ugly Betty" disguised as a flashback.
You may have been confused to see the undercooked incarnations of characters we have come to adore this past fall, but that is because ABC, for an undisclosed reason, delayed the broadcast of the "Swag" episode, originally scheduled as hour #4.
Time inconsistencies aside (didn't Betty meet Henry at Halloween?), the hilarious episode finally gave Ashley Jensen (Christina) plenty of screen time crammed with priceless one-liner comebacks and put-downs ("We can't all live on laxatives".)
Proving her SAG Award nomination was well-earned, America Ferrera made her Betty even more genuine, imperfect and relatable in the pivotal scene where she admitted the $4500 bag she traded in for her dad's medications actually made her feel pretty.
Finally, how can you not love the show that is capable of making a superficial bleached blonde with crass assumptions about race and class ("Here's a Menudo box set and a coupon for 100 taquitos!") so adorable? Go Amanda!

Best episode ever!
This was so funny, I laughed every moment of my life. I was wondering why Walter and Betty was split apart again. Thanks for clarifying that up!
Great to see this episode brought to light.
