TV Ratings: "Smallville" Soars, NBC Drops
The much hyped "Justice League" hunkfest episode of "Smallville" lived up to the buzz and delivered 5,25 million viewers for The CW, hitting its season high. Meanwhile, "My Name Is Earl" and the rest of the NBC sitcom line-up was off, including the equally buzzworthy "Scrubs" musical episode.
"Earl" opened the evening for NBC down 1,2 million viewers at 9,7 million; "The Office" lost 1,7 million getting 9,29; "Scrubs" dropped 1,35 million to 6,57 million; and "30 Rock" lost a million and scored only 5,05 million total viewers.
An all-new "Grey's Anatomy" finally went head-to-head with an all-new CSI at 9pm. The medical drama managed to edge out the CBS procedural with a rather small margin: 21,89 vs. 21,28 million.
ABC was the second for the night overall, its weakest link being "Men In Trees" at 10pm. Although the drama was up from last week, it not only lost almost half of "Grey's" audience, but it also lost 1,5 million in its second half-hour.
Earlier in the evening, another much-hyped program, the introduction of Rebecca Romijn on "Ugly Betty" scored over 14 million viewers, the comedy's best numbers since October 5.
Finally, FOX's canceled teen drama "The O.C." was at its season average of 3,95 million. I bet FOX wished "American Idol" was on every night.
