Olivia Newton John celebrated her 58th birthday on Tuesday by joining Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson as a guest judge on the sixth season of FOX's blockbuster talent show American Idol.

The pop singer famous for her role alongside John Travolta in the movie "Grease" said to reporters she did not enjoy rejecting aspiring singers. Newton John helped the judges pick talent in the third round of Los Angeles auditions. At the end of her day as a judge, the singer was given a cake as part of a small birthday celebration.

Singer Jewel and songwriter Carole Bayer Sager are among other celebrities scheduled to appear on the show when it premieres in mid January. "American Idol" has been the #1 television program in America for two seasons in a row.
