ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" Star Luke MacFarlane: I'm Gay

"Brothers & Sisters" star Luke MacFarlane has come out of the closet today and announced he will become series regular on the ABC series next season as his character Scotty Wandell marries his boyfriend Kevin Walker (Matthew Rhys) as part of an upcoming May sweeps storyline.

In an interview with Globe and Mail, Canadian MacFarlane, who has appeared on the ABC family drama since its beginning in the fall 2006 in a recurring role, says he is looking forward to being series regular on one of the first shows on network television to portray a gay marriage between two main characters.

In the article, MacFarlane went further revealing that he too wishes to marry one day and that, despite some concerns over his professional future, he made a decision to go public with his own sexual orientation. MacFarlane however declined to reveal whether he is currently involved in a relationship.

In 2006, MacFarlane was rumored to be dating "Grey's Anatomy's" out gay star T.R. Knight, before being romantically linked in 2007 to "Prison Break" hottie Wentworth Miller (whose own sexual orientation remains a matter of dispute.)

Whoever the man of Luke's heart is (if there indeed is one at the moment), he has made me very proud to be a Luke MacFarlane fan today and I wish him the very best in his personal life as well as continuing success in his career.

Are Wentworth Miller And Luke MacFarlane Gay & Ready to Come Out?

AUGUST 27, 2007: "Prison Break" star Wentworth Miller, 35, who has been the target of public and tabloid speculation over his sexual orientation, was photographed on Saturday with actor Luke MacFarlane, 27, ("Brothers & Sisters") who is rumored to be Miller's boyfriend.

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton reported in June that the couple were dating but there had been no photographic evidence until this weekend that the couple even knew each other.

According to Just Jared, after the couple spotted the paparazzi they tried to avoid being photographed, but ultimately decided to walk down the street and smile for the cameras.

The couple began the day at the printing store Kinko where Miller surfed the Internet (the actor has been photographed checking out stories about "Prison Break" in Internet cafes in the past).

After getting coffee at Starbucks and being photographed by the paparazzi they visited an art gallery in Culver City and ended the day with dinner at In-N-Out Burger drive-thru.

Wentworth Miller has said in past interviews that he is not gay. Although he was snapped going to movies and restaurants with girlfriends, he never appeared to be dating a woman.

Luke MacFarlane returns this fall to ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" (where he plays a gay character) for another 7-episode guest stint (some of us are still hoping he will eventually become series regular).

Last year, MarcFarlane was rumored to be dating "Grey's Anatomy" star T.R. Knight. MacFarlane and Knight were also photographed spending an afternoon together days after T.R. Knight came out to People Magazine.

Will Wentworth Miller be the next high-profile celebrity to come out of the closet?

2006 was an important year in gay visibility as pop singer Lance Bass and televisions stars T.R. Knight and Neil Patrick Harris ("How I Met Your Mother") all came out in People Magazine.

Luke MacFarlane Returns to "Brothers & Sisters"

JULY 27, 2007: Are we in store for a gay love triangle on "Brothers & Sisters"? AfterElton.com reports actor Luke MacFarlane, who is the alleged boyfriend of "Prison Break" star Wentworth Miller, will reprise his role as Scotty Wandell in the sophomore season of the ABC soap.

"Days of our Lives" hunk Eric Winters will be back for one episode (he appears in the season premiere "Home Front," airs September 30), but if his new CBS show "Viva Laughlin" happens to bomb his pastor Jason McCallister may return to romance Kevin Walker (Matthew Rhys) on "Brothers & Sisters."

Luke MacFarlane, on the other hand, whose Scotty locked lips with Kevin in early season 1 is expected to return for at least 7-8 episodes this year. The producers say he comes back at a time when he tries to pull his life together and they will be exploring Kevin and Scotty's relationship not just romantically, but also as friends.
