"Prison Break" Star Wentworth Miller Gay & Dating "Brothers & Sisters' " Luke MacFarlane?
"Prison Break" star and Korean jeans model Wentworth Miller is gay and dating actor Luke MacFarlane who plays Scotty, a recurring gay character on the ABC family drama "Brothers & Sisters," reports celebrity blogger Perez Hilton.
British-born actor Wentworth Miller addressed rumors about his sexual orientation in an interview with Australian media in late 2006 saying he was not gay as some had suggested.
The actor has however become the target of speculation as he keeps a very low profile and declines to speak about his personal life publicly.
Miller was photographed going out to the movies or a restaurant with girlfriends on several occasions in the past year, but none of these couplings got any repeat exposure in the tabloid media.
Now Perez Hilton, who accurately reported that singer Lance Bass and actor Neil Patrick Harris were gay and dating men before they officially came out in the media, claims an "impeccable source close to the pair" confirmed Miller and MacFarlane have been secretly dating for over 6 months.
Miller is the star of FOX's manhunt drama "Prison Break" which is popular with a young male demographic. Are the actor and his reps afraid the drama fans would not be comfortable with his sexuality?
Young actor Luke MacFarlane has also declined to speak about his sexuality. He however plays a gay character on ABC's gay-friendly "Brothers & Sisters" and has shared some intimate scenes with the drama's resident gay character Kevin Walker (Matthew Rhys).
According to Hilton, Miller and MacFarlane are serious about their relationship and are thinking of moving in together.
Miller has however been very reclusive since he began dating MacFarlane. According to a FOX mole, the network finds him difficult to work with as he has cut back on the amount of press he is doing for "Prison Break" afraid that the reporters would continue to ask him if he was gay.
Luke MacFarlane was previously linked to T.R. Knight, the out gay star of "Grey's Anatomy." The two were photographed by the paparazzi spending time together in October 2006, just days after Knight came out in People Magazine.

Unfortunately we live in a sad society where if Wentworth came out, his show would probably suffer. It would be pretty big, as he is known from his character to be masculine, butch, in every sense a "man's man". I don't agree with Perez Hilton's site of outing people though. It's a personal decision, but people will lap it up no doubt.
I have to respectfully disagree, Roland.
Perez Hilton is rude and insensitive, but I agree with his decision to publish this information.
Why does no one complain when mainstream tabloids report about Jennifer Aniston dating Paul Sculfor or any other heterosexual couple who are also trying to keep their romance a secret?
Hilton and the tabloids make a living out of gossiping about people's relationships. Why should they give special treatment to closeted gay celebrities? If they have information about two celebrities dating, not publishing that information means they are not doing their job. Regardless of those celebrities' sexuality.
Also, by staying in the closet gay celebrities have to realize they are always running that risk of being outed, unless of course they decide to spend their lives by not dating anyone. And that is almost as absurd as the closet itself.
Besides, as celebrities - they are young people's role models. Whether we like that or not, young people look up to them. What kind of a message are they then sending out to them if they remain in the closet? The message is that being gay is shameful and wrong and in the year 2007 that is an inappropriate message.
Would Lance Bass, T.R. Knight and Neil Patrick Harris have come out last year unless they were forced to do that? I don't think so. It may be a personal decision, but it's one that is never made.

I suppose life is different in the entertainment industry. There is a thin line between being an open book just because you are a celebrity and their right for privacy. Its the age old question, do they deserve to have everything exposed about themselves because they have asked to be in the spotlight? As for Hilton, the way she behaves she is famous for being famous, you could argue that she DOES deserve all the press, positive and negative, and she probably loves it.
Being out of the closet is a great thing, and it does end up enhancing the "gay cause", but I don't think I would like to be forced out, just for the greater good.
But that's just me :)
Seems to me that outting someone is wrong. Its their decision. Perhaps they wanted to keep their private and business life separate. But in today's messed up society, its like taboo to not make your sexuality extremely public.

Yes, if you ask me I will tell you..to confirm Went is gay will make me probably little sad but not dissapointed as if he has been my boyfriend or so. I am 36 years old but I can assure you most of Went audience is between 16-27 and probably they can take it personal. It is a very different thing when you report someone's secret relationship and infidelity to outing someone. You cannot possibly compare those two. Wentworth might be hiding not only his relationship but his self identity also.

hello, i am a sixteen year old not anywhere prepared to come out of the closet... the reason i feel this way is because the very celebrities that are supposed to be my role models have to be accomplished actors, singers, etc. before having a tabloid out them and society accept them. i feel i have to wait, just like they did, until i prove myself to be an accomplished human being before i even think about revealing my orientation. i also feel i have every right to be cynical about the society we live in and the humiliating way we treat people who are different in any way. it scares me how much "less" of a person i could become when i come out. that is why i don't ever believe in revealing secrets for personal benefit or because you think you "know what's best," because some things in society are just plain and simple considered taboo. when it comes to miller, if he is gay, i respect his decision to deny claims, because he is not ready to lose his life as it is now over something that is understandably private.
Sadly, it shouldn't be that hard to come "out" to a "world" that has placed homosexuality as a norm. We have put their agenda in the media (movies, TV, etc) and have called it "diversity" and "equal opportunity." When we say we are in love with a celebrity, are we? Or is it that we are infatuated by the character they play? And while it is arguably true that all actors put something of themselves (however small) into the roles they play, we are reacting to the characters they play not the actor. We don't know them, no matter what we read about them. We don't really know what they are like as people away from the limelight. No matter their sexuality we can still be infatuated by the character they play. We can still enjoy the fantasy. We only think their sexuality makes a difference if we think we are "in love" with them as a person. And as we don't truly know them as a person, we can fantasise all we want because we aren't in love them, are we?

Well - I am new to both the PRISON BREAK phenomenon, the Perez Hilton debacle and to the 'is he isn't he' argument.
Having digested the facts and studied the copy - and with my Gaydar fully primed - I believe that Wentworth Miller is 100% queer. No ifs, buts, 50/50's, waiting for the right girl etc. What is atrocious and a little shameful on his part, is his fear of identifying as such.
I've watched a couple of recent interviews with the divine Mr. Miller, and one can clearly see that the poor man is SO tight and SO stiff, painfully trying not to reveal ANY personality whatsoever that he is in danger of becoming the most boring actor on the planet. I'm on the fence with this one. There's some convincing arguments towards that he might be, but as many have said.. it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. I also tend to agree that as a celebrity they should know to expect an invasion of privacy yet I'm not sure I agree with some of Perez's unrelenting tactics.

Honestly, I kind of lost interest in Wentworth when I found all this stuff out but the "evidence" is too hard to ignore. I'm fine that he is gay and I say more power to him and Luke but I don't agree with the two of them lying or avoiding the issue and hiding in a closet together no matter how much in "love" they supposedly are. Wentworth likes to hide behind his "definitions belong to the definer not the defined" quote. When he says I'm not gay, he really means it. He chooses not to define himself as such and that is fine but using women to punch up your career is wrong. Trust me, they are using women but this stunt will ultimately lead to Hollywood going back to screening men before casting them in certain roles, particularlly lead parts. Believe me, everyone in Hollywood is watching Wentworth and PB to see what is going to happen (so far it isn't looking good).
The truth is, if he refused to lie at the start, he would never have been hired for the Prison Break role and would have continued doing little if anything in Hollywood at all (face it he isn't that great of an actor and is a little long in the tooth for his "break out" role). But he really should have known better, after having racked up so many male notches on his belt, that something wouldn't get out.
The person talked about all the out actors at red carpet events. These guys are nothing special. They aren't lead actors and do bit stuff. They are little side line characters and when their shows go off they will go back to theater or whatever (the only one you will probably see is Neil). The only reason that they are invited to "red carpet" events is because they are on shows where they are popular side characters but as long as Hollywood keeps them in their "place" (in other words no leading man parts cause no one would believe it anyway) it is all good. They are not leads and never will be. They can't even play straight convincingly. TR Knight and Katherine Heigel are a joke on Grey's, sorry but their scenes together are just not real looking. He is gay and it shows. NPH is gay and you can tell (and he plays the stereotypical character role for a gay man-- a womanizing male, they make gay men play it because it is so ironic and very funny (I guess it's funny, I really don't find it all that amusing)), Lance is gay and boy who didn't know it. What red carpet stuff is Lance invited to, maybe because he is out and trying to clamor for any attention he can get which is sort of pathetic. Most of his attention comes courtesy of his buddies. No one is listening to him which is evidenced by his desperate clamors for attetion, the new tell all book, the I once married a lady... Pathetic.
Don't worry ladies, there are plenty of straight guys out there and they are good men, handsome and kind and will treat you right. Don't listen to the stupid garbage like "All the best guys are gay", or "Why are all the hot men gay". There are tons of hideous gay men that no one would touch with a 10 foot pole (some of them were on Sex and the City).

I do feel sorry for Mr. Miller a little bit. His fans have really stopped talking to much about him. His boards have gone dead. Many have lost interest in him. Hey Justin, I just want to say that there IS a big difference between outing someone and revealing a secret hetro-relationship. No matter what some people say, there is still A LOT of gay-hatred going on. A secret relationship is still bad to reveal to the public (famous person or not), but outing someone, making someone a target for hatred is a lot worse - very different.
Until being gay is seen as normal by ALL (which sadly may be never...), it is wrong to out someone and make them a target, it is THEIR choice when/if they come out.
What if these people have families that would disown them if they found out - which happens
It wouldn't be nice if someone famous got outted, and then had thousands of hate sites going around about them would it.

BTW, I am gay, but at this point I would never out myself in my society and especially my neighbourhood, I would not be accepted. I would go to extremes to protect my sexuality, in some places it's a BIG DEAL.

I think it shows a sad state of affairs that this subject is still even debated today. A persons sexual orientation is irrelevant to that persons personality, talents and abilities.
The whole celebrity gossip thing is boring and pathetic, why does society care so much about who is dating who, and who's buisness is it who anybody else is sleeping with? How dare anybody pass judgement on another persons sex life, sex is a personal and private thing that some people, straight or gay, may or may not be comfortable sharing with other people. And it should be respected if that is their wishes. Being gay is NOT something to be ashamed of and anybody who would suggest it needs to take a good look at themselves. As for staying in the closet it really is a personal choice, a shame that some gay people feel they cannot be open about who they love but, astraight person doesn't have to make a declaration about who they are attracted to so why should a gay person? We all want to love and be loved back, so if someone happens to fall in love with someone of the same sex then what? They don't deserve to be happy, they don't deserve love and intimacy too? Says who?
And back on celebrities; the ones who hang out where they know they're going to be "seen" and "papped", who pop out babies and get married once a year so they can get a nice six figure deal to do some lavish over the top pointless photoshoot with some shallow waste of time magazine ie the ones who get paid for doing next to nothing can't complain when they nip out to the shop with greasy hair and wearing a sack and twenty photographers catch them in the act, they can't pick and choose. Some however, use the media in a more dignified way, as a tool to promote themelves and their current work. After all they're doing a job and promotion is part of it, just because this whole "celeb culture" is ridicluously taking over doesn't mean all actors etc should suffer.
And, if girls are going to "go off" Miller because he is gay then shame on them or if they are disappointed then they need to get a grip, they have no chance anyway and need a reality check.
Whether or not Wentworth is gay, it doesn't change the fact that he's hot, talented and Prison break is fantastic, if he's happy and in a good relationship then lucky him! Wouldn't it just be lovely if everybody found that kind of happiness too without other people sticking their noses in?

Im a gay guy living in the UK so when all these celebs cum out in People magazine it takes a further 2yrs for those stories to really find those of us who are not die hard gossip fans so I only really just learned about the lace bass being gay thing from reading these posts (I know sad and unusual). Now if Miller is gay (which I personally have thought he was since he stared in Buffy) it is his own right to tell people and shouldn't be forced to have to tell people but even in the "non-celeb" world this isn't possible. I know many people who have been forced to tell those they care about thier gay before they are ready to do so and their not celebs so you can imagin how hard it is for celebs to do it when they are ready.
I agree that any gay celeb gave up the right to not have sum1 out them the minute they choose this carrier path, i mean perex hilton is just one of millions of people hired to find this kind of dirt, its not like people can stay in the closet forever anyway, being a celeb just means the time you spend being in the closet is just alot shorter.

It is the anger shown in some of the posts by Justin van de Kamp that keep some of us who are gay from coming out. Both sides have revealed their ugliness by not allowing the other to have differing beliefs, views and opinions. There is no tolerance shown by the vocal minority who believe they represent the majority. Well you don't. My sexual life is my private life and no one has the right to invade that privacy whether or not their info about my sexuality is correct.
Sex should be kept in the bedroom where it belongs to be enjoyed by two people who are committed to each other - no matter their sexuality. Society would be fair better off.

Of course your personal life is your own private matter. Unless you are a celebrity. Then, whether you like it or not, your personal life is exposed all over tabloids and magazines. That simply goes with the territory of being a celebrity.

Perez Hilton may be to some people, a nosey and high strung gossip, but to be fair to him, he has been true on many things. I myself, am in the mind-set that if Wentworth is gay, then good for him. I hope he is very happy with his partner. Being a huge fan of Prison Break, i can see why he would want to keep his sexuality private. It would affect how people see him in the show, and even though we like to think it wouldn't, this is just unfortunately part and parcel of the somewhat shallow world we live in today. If he is gay, if not, even better, means i have at least 1% of a chance of dating him!!!

Justin, how can you compare outing someone with exposing a straight celibrity's lover? I honestly think it's not that black and white. As much as we want society to be accepting of gay people, this is just not the case - how many of the top earning actors are (openly) gay?

Justin, sorry I have to respectfully disagree with your point about it's fine to out people. Outing someone who is gay by saying they are dating another guy, in this situation, is totally different than the situation with Jennifer Aniston or whatever. Take these comments in point: would there be as much controversy if this article were about Jennifer Aniston, even if they had the same amount of fan base? I doubt it. Not only that, but I also don't necessarily agree with tabloids reporting about straight couples either, it's their life, why should we care? Now I know that's not a reality, a lot of people do, but if you want to take it that far, really, who cares if jennifer aniston is sleeping with her co-star or whatever? It has absolutely no effect on the average person's life.
You mention Lance Bass, and all these other actors, they still are not exactly A-list actors. There was an interesting article a while back about the glass ceiling that gay male actors have, for example, in the movie milk, gus van sant wanted to cast a gay male as the lead role, but the studios wouldn't allow it as it would lead to less box office sales. Thus all the main actors in the film were all straight, which doesn't make that much sense seeing as it's a movie about a gay activist. same thing goes for brokeback mountain. The sad point in the world is that even the lead roles for mainstream gay movies go to straight men because of the prejudice in hollywood and mainstream america that still exists against gay people.
There was a recent statistic that ~90% of children in high school who declared themselves gay were generally harassed in some way, if not physically abused by their classmates. I agree, if all things were equal, it would be great to have out and out gay actors as role models etc. But the sad reality of the world is that there is still a ton of discrimination and prejudice against gay people/actors which affects their careers, which is NOT the same as if you "out" a straight person with who they are sleeping with, and because of this, people should not be outed by other people...it's totally a personal choice and if wentworth miller IS gay, it's his choice, to come out in his own time. It's a difficult decision and people should not make that decision for them. I mean, you have no idea if Miller's family is homophobic or whatever, and might ostracize him for his choice, in addition to all the negative press he might receive/problems with his career.
Even looking at grey's anatomy, I can't help but to think TR Knight's romantic roles on the show were significantly decreased after he was outed by the actor who played Preston Burke, and now he'll be gone after this season...there isn't as much need for him anymore it seems.
Hopefully time will come soon when it won't be a liability to be gay, but I don't think that time is now.

I knew Wentworth at Princeton and he is just a normal guy and you guys really need to get over it and stop obsessing about his sexual status. He is a good guy, and has dated plenty of girls - but if he has now discovered he's gay then good on him. Girls - you never really had a chance anyway.

Its the middle of 2010.. still no confirmation either way.. no further pictures or extended gossip.. PB has finished and WM has moved on to new roles.. Personally I think if he was going to come out he would have by now, or we'd have more proof of WM being gay..

You know I think the world is coming to an end. If people can't do what they want to without getting publically bashed, just cuz it's different then that's fucked up. If u ever think of how the world turned out, it's not just luck. News things and ideas are created from people who stand up for what they believe in. If being gay is what someone believes in then leave them the fuck alone, it's their life and their choice. The reason why half these people make up things like this is cuz they have no fucking life and have to create drama to feel any kind of success or accomplishment. So if they are gay lovers, great. That's their choice and if you don't like it, shut the fuck up and deal with it.
