Ratings (Wednesday, 2/28/08)
"Men in Trees" returns to ABC, but not many people notice. "Big Brother 9" continues its low-rated winter run on CBS, and CW still has a good reason to be worried about its future.
Alaska-based romantic drama "Men in Trees" was back on ABC replacing the disappointing "Cashmere Mafia." Unfortunately, its ratings were below even "Mafia's" lackluster 7-week average.
"Big Brother 9" is still the weakest link in CBS' schedule, while CW's golden goose "America's Next Top Model" has lost quite a bit of its sparkle, scoring fewer than 4 million viewers. One year ago, the show's ratings were over 40% higher.
The CW appears to be in trouble. The struggling network, whose ratings are very disappointing in general, has witnessed two of its biggest hits (including "Smallville") stumble in recent weeks.
Plus, the wrestling show which was keeping the network lit on Friday nights, is moving to MyNetworkTV next season. Has Dawn Ostroff already regretted pissing off "Everwood" fans two years ago?
