TV Ratings: Wednesday (1/23/08)
Has America awarded FOX's disgusting, despicable and degrading new reality show with Nielsen gold? Or did "The Moment of Truth" (brought to you by the same guy who once hosted the relationship-breaking 'Temptation Island') end up at the very bottom of the ratings chart where this revolting pile of crap belongs?
"The Moment of Truth" fully capitalized on its blockbuster lead-in "American Idol" scoring 23.23 million viewers or 86% of the singing competition's audience (26.80 million). Only 15% of people who tuned in at 9:00pm abandoned the show by 9:30p.m. "The Moment of Truth" is therefore the highest rated new program this season.
Meanwhile, "American Idol" continues its ratings descent. Last year the show scored a much stronger 33.56 million viewers on a comparable night (Wednesday, January 24, 2007). That's a 20% decline. Also, each new episode this season has scored lower ratings than the previous episode.
Loser of the night was CBS' game show "Power of 10" which, unlike NBC's "Deal or No Deal," can't handle "American Idol." For this reason, CBS decided to put the show on hiatus effective immediately. Obviously, they will be better off running a repeat of one of their zillion procedurals instead.

Well to summarize the American viewing audience is a bunch of brain dead, zombie like Lemmings with the attention span of a flea. They have the ability to comprehend good, though provoking, Television much in the same way a 2 year old would gravitate towards The Wiggles. The decline of western civilization has indeed happened but it was long before The Moment of Truth. See. The Bachelor, Any VH1 Show, American Idol, The Girls Next Door and Wife Swap. I'm actually amazed such good high quality network shows such as Lost, Friday Night Lights, Brothers and Sisters and Jericho even have an audience anymore. I don't like the outlook of network TV .
