TV Ratings: "Cashmere Mafia" Plunges (1/09/08)
Last night ABC's freshman drama "Cashmere Mafia" lost over 40% of the audience that tuned into its season premiere on Sunday night. The Lucy Liu series aired for the first time in its regular time slot pulling in only 6.16 million viewers.
Of course, the pilot had the benefit of airing out of the much anticipated final episode of "Desperate Housewives." One could hardly expect "Cashmere Mafia" to remain above the 10 million mark with a lead-in like "Supernanny."
Nevertheless, ABC's "Dirty Sexy Money" which aired in the same time slot in the fall averaged 8-9 million viewers.
Reality on NBC continues to dominate the competition. The network's "Deal Or No Deal" easily beat CBS' "Power of 10" which was the weakest link in the Eye network's all-original line-up.
Although ABC's reality line-up is somewhat weaker than "Pushing Daisies" and "Private Practice" that aired in the fall, it still does much better than that underwhelming sitcom line-up at the same time last year.
