Lesbian Kiss on ABC's "Cashmere Mafia"
Tomorrow night ABC's "Cashmere Mafia" moves to its regular time slot, Wednesdays at 10/9c. The Darren Starr-produced show about powerful women in New York will, following a year-long drought, bring lesbian love to network television.
Actress Bonnie Somerville ("Grosse Pointe," "Friends," "The O.C.," "NYPD Blue,") plays a bisexual character called Caitlin Dowd who is smitten by Lourdes Benedicto's ("24," "The Nine") Alicia.
Due to the writers' strike only 7 episodes of the drama have been filmed, but the producers decided to explore the lesbian side of Caitlin's sexuality from the get-go. Alicia will be Caitlin's first girlfriend.
This is also the first time both actresses are playing a lesbian or a bisexual character and their primary concern was to ensure the characters feel like real people.
You can read more about the casting of Somerville and Benedicto and how their characters were conceived in this interview published on AfterEllen.com.
Tonight ABC will repeat the pilot episode at 10:00 p.m. EST. Tomorrow night you can see episode 102 titled "Conference Call" in the show's regular time slot Wednesdays at 10:00 p.m. The encore of that episode airs on Friday at 9:00 p.m.

I started watching only because of the lesbian kiss, but the show is actually GREAT, like SATC but better.
