TV Ratings: "Women's Murder Club" Drops
I hate to use a more dramatic title like " 'Women's Murder Club' Hits Series Low" since the show is only in its 3rd week, but that is essentially what happened this Friday night when the new Angie Harmon drama pulled in less than 9 million viewers.
ABC's freshman series premiered on October 12 pulling in 10.80 million viewers. The following Friday the show dropped to 9.67 million. In week #3 the show continued its decline scoring 8.90 million viewers.
"Women's Murder Club" is also not doing too well in the 18-49 demo as it tied NBC's "Friday Night Lights" (2.0, down from 2.2 last week). On the other hand, a great deal of the 18-49 crowd is not sitting at home watching TV on Friday nights.
The show's lead-out "Men in Trees" also didn't have the best night dipping to 6.51 million viewers. Next week the romantic drama will swap timeslots with newsmagazine 20/20, which is expected to improve its performance.
FOX's attempt at copying the success of "American Idol" continues to fail miserably. "The Next Great American Band" went down from its already disappointing debut (2.87 million vs. 3.61 million). I bet repeats of "Trading Spouses" would do better.
NBC's suitcase show was the #1 telecast of the evening, while The CW's wrestling show managed to beat a repeat of "Grey's Anatomy" over on ABC.
ABC:
Grey's Anatomy (R) (4.31 million)
Women's Murder Club (8.90 million)
Men in Trees (6.51 million)
CBS:
The Ghost Whisperer (9.87 million)
Moonlight (8.56 million)
Numb3rs (9.68 million)
NBC:
Dear or No Deal (10.50 million)
Friday Night Lights (5.88 million)
Las Vegas (8.18 million)
FOX:
The Next Great American Band (2.87 million)
The CW:
Friday Night Smackdown (4.61 million)
