"Desperate Housewives" Spoilers: Gays Coming to Wisteria Lane
AUGUST 2, 2007: It will have taken Edie Britt (Nicolette Sheridan) more than a year to finally sell the old Applewhite house on Wisteria Lane, but come October the spooky property, that in another TV universe belonged to the Munsters family, will boast a rainbow flag.
As AfterElton.com reported earlier this week, "Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry and his team of writers are planning to introduce a gay couple on Wisteria Lane around episode #5 of the upcoming season.
One of the men will clash with Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher) who makes her best effort to show how politically correct and open-minded she is. She however ends up having a hateful relationship with Wisteria Lane's first male "Desperate Housewife."
Meanwhile, the dramedy's resident gay hunk Andrew Vandekamp (Shawn Pyfrom) who was last season reduced to throwing occasional one-line zingers after two mischievous years of scheming, conniving and bedhopping, may begetting more action next year.
It all begins with episode #3 in which a fun thing happens and Andrew, who gets involved in Lynette's cancer storyline, resorts to his old evil ways. Then, later in the season, the writers may once again address the character's sexuality. It was certainly about time.
The gay couple have yet to be cast. You can read the full article at AfterElton.com. The 4th season of "Desperate Housewives" premieres Sunday, September 30 at 9/8c on ABC.

The new couple is Rex's brother, Justin van de Kamp and his hunky Brazilian lover who's also a runway model (he has a thing for runway models apparently). He's also Andrew's uncle so he'll be giving plenty of advice on men to his nephew on the ways of the world...
:)
Roland... You're hired! LOL...
Loves it! :)))
that should make for interesting tv for sure. Roland thanks for the add't scoopage. it would be good if thats how they go cos then andrew would get more to his role just from that. i miss evil andrew. they did have a tiny moment with him when he got rid of austin. but that was evil with good intentions andrew, not totally evil andrew.
Thanks Debi, I like to tease Justin...and I think the storyline would be better if he discovers that he and Rex and not related by birth...and then "evil Justin" would be able to seduce "evil Andrew"...I bet he'd like that...
Say uncle...LOL
Let's see how this turns out. Hope this doesn't turn into another "Straights are evil" s/l cause that's a big turnoff.
Were there ever a "straights are evil" plot in primetime?
Btw, Roland, great plot for Justin :)

Everytime they have gay plots, it seems, that the straight man(or woman) is always negatively painted as the evil intolerant bigot. I've seen it on multiple shows. If this is going to turn into another one of those, this might be the first time I fast forward DH. I don't want to see a s/l like that on my tv. I got better things to do then watch people paint inaccurate negative pictures of any group of people.
