Ramirez, Knight to Return to "Grey's Anatomy"
Sara Ramirez, T.R. Knight and pretty much everybody else sans the dismissed actor Isaiah Washington and California-bound Kate Walsh is coming back to ABC's popular medical drama "Grey's Anatomy" for a fourth season.
Although even some of the actors, namely T.R. Knight, had publicly speculated if they would be returning to the set of the red-hot ABC drama next month or not, TV Guide confirmed on Friday that, except for Washington, all "Grey's" stars were informed by ABC that their contract options had been picked up.
Will the loss of Washington as well as Kate Walsh who is moving on to her own spin-off "Private Practice" set in Los Angeles spell any trouble for the Seattle-based guilty pleasure?
Shari Anne Brill of media buyer Carat USA said to USA Today: "Grey's principal cast centers on the lives of nearly a dozen characters, so Washington isn't a crucial loss"
"The departure of Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo, whose roles as star-crossed lovers provide much of the show's appeal, would be much more damaging."
Brill also said that adding new characters can be very healthy for the show as it brings new life into the storytelling and opens up possibilities for a variety of fresh storylines.
Echoing that, the producers of "Grey's Anatomy" are going to add several cast members next season, including at least one fresh-faced new intern: Meredith Grey's half-sister Lexi (Chyler Leigh).
They are also seeking a new recurring male character to compete with Patrick Dempsey's Dr. McDreamy.
