Jordin Sparks To Win "American Idol"? (VIDEO)
17-year old Jordin Sparks who got a lot of judge love on last night's ultimate showdown on FOX's "American Idol" will win the competition by a landslide according to DialIdol.com software that predicts the results by measuring the busy signal.
The 17-year old was praised last night as the superior singer to 25-year old beatboxer Blake Lewis who was branded the best performer.
Lewis opened the night with a reprisal of his signature performance of Bon Jovi's "You Give Love a Bad Name."
Simon said: "Blake, you're not the best singer in this competition. But you're the best entertainer I think we've had."
Sparks then sang Christina Aguilera's "Fighter." making Cowell happy. Nevertheless he noted that "the vocals were actually a bit shriek-y."
Lewis ditched his beatboxing for a cover of a Maroon 5 hit "She Will Be Loved." Cowell thought he had played it too safe.
Sparks' then took on Martina McBride's "Broken Wing" prompting Simon to exclaim, "Now, THAT was good."
In their final turn, both performed "This Is My Now," the tune picked by viewers in an online "American Idol" songwriting contest introduced this season.
"I thought it was all a little odd. ... It's just not a song that you would normally sing," said Cowell, judging Lewis' performance.
As for Sparks, however, judge Randy Jackson gushed: "You were the best singer tonight. You deserve it all, baby!"
Earlier Cowell said of Sparks and Lewis to the press: "I'm pleased for the two of them. They're nice kids. But I would have liked to have seen one of them up against the big singer."
Whom will America choose? According to DialIdol.com, an online service that has has an excellent record in predicting elimination of contestants, Jordin Sparks scored 45,03 points as opposed to Blake Lewis' 30,34.
Normally the final vote can go either way if the gap is about 3 points due to a margin of error. The 15-point gap between the contestants however seems to indicate Jordin will win the competition by a landslide.

Hey Justin, the song they chose was so sacchariny sweet, what happened to this songwriting competition writing better songs? It was SO geared towards Jordin that it was unfair, there was no way Blake could pull off a song like that, poor guy looked obviously uncomfortable. Why did they have to sing the same song? That song basically sealed Jordin as the Idol winner. Such a shame, the playing field was not even.
I hated the song, Roland. LOL...
I guess they expected Melinda and Jordin to make it to the finals in which case the choice would have been more fair.
If that is the case, however, they still should have changed that song, or as you suggested, given Blake something else to sing.
I guess the producers have made their decision as to who they want to see win the competition.
They kept saying AI was a singing competition and that Jordin is a better singer than Blake.
I say it's a reality show, and Blake is a better TV personality. There you go. :))
Could Justin be somewhat biased given the way Blake looks perhaps? LOL
Even Melinda with the obviously better voice wasn't as suited towards this type of song. Last year Taylor and Katherine got to sing two different songs. It is so obviously unfair...
This is my now? Barrrrrrfffff....LOL
By the way, I hope that my Lost survives tonight against the Idol finale, it sucks that it'll be hit ratings wise. You know in Canada, we are getting the first hour of Lost at 7pm, then live Idol from 8 to 10pm, then the last hour of Lost at 10pm. It sounds silly, but at least I don't have to tape anything!
I'm so excited about Lost (much more than AI!)...I hope it does at least as well as Heroes did, crossing my fingers :)
The song, which was pitched in the songwriting competition, was supposed to be a rock song akin to a song you would hear Steve Perry sing. How it turned into the saccharine arrangement, I don't know. But the version they had on their website was full-on rock song.
Anyway, that song Blake could have sung if they kept the rock arrangement. Why they mellowed it out for him, I don't know. It really makes me mad they changed it. :(
