TV Ratings: ABC Wins Final Sweeps Sunday
ABC won the final Sweeps Sunday night beating the second placed CBS by almost 5 million viewers. The network's top show was the season finale of "Desperate Housewives" which scored 18,44 million viewers.
This was the best performance for the dramedy since January 4 when the episode "No Fits, No Fights, No Feuds" pulled in 18,62 million viewers.
The 1st season finale of "Desperate Housewives" on May 22, 2005 was seen by 30 million viewers. The 2nd season finale on May 21, 2006 scored over 24 million.
If the trend continues, we can expect next year's 4th season finale to pull in about 12 million viewers. Will the dramedy last all 7 seasons as ABC hopes?
Back to last night, the first season finale of "Brothers & Sisters" also got some inflated numbers, as 12,66 million people tuned in.
Over on FOX, the very special 400th episode of "The Simpsons" (a part of the one-hour 18th season finale) attracted 9,8 million viewers, finally exceeding "Family Guy" (9,09 million).
In the battle of Sunday Night Movies, an endangered species on network TV, "National Treasure" on NBC (6,31 million) got beaten by "Million Dollar Baby" on CBS (6,91 million).

I think that the bleed will cap off next season. Most of any shows fanbase are casual viewers. Diehard DH fans will back the show, so like Lost, I think the bleed will cap off. Plus, with last night's steller ending, I imagine that word will quickly spread leading for a highly watched season premiere.
I loved the way the 'Brothers and Sisters' finale came full circle with all of them jumping in the pool...
I agree. I think DH will cap off next season. Ideally it's 15/16 million. I think the 20+ million weeks will be rare from now on... :( But the show is still doing the best on Sunday nights so that's all I really care about.
