"Gilmore Girls" Cast, Crew In State of Shock

TV Guide is reporting the cast and crew of The CW's "Gilmore Girls" is in state of shock following the network announcement that the 7-year old series will end on May 15.

The CW tried to renew the series for a shortened 13-episode 8th season offering the show stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel salary bumps, but according to the network the offer was rejected and negotiations broke down.

The breakdown in negotiations seems to have occurred at the last moment as the cast and crew of the drama was under the impression that an eight season was in the bag.

In a joint statement with the WB studio, the network said: "Announcing the final season is truly a sad moment, as the series helped define a network and created a fantastic, storybook world featuring some of television's most memorable, lovable characters."
