VIDEO: "Desperate Housewives" Unaired Pilot: Part 2 (John Rowland)
Kyle Searles of The CW's "7th heaven" played John Rowland, the teenage gardener Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria) was messing around with in the unaired version of the pilot episode of ABC's "Desperate Housewives".
After the pilot was shot it became obvious the role needed to be recast and the new scenes with Jesse Metcalfe (pictured above with Longoria) were filmed and added in the summer of 2004.
Would Gabby's affair have been such a guilty pleasure to watch had Kyle Searles remained on board?
I seriously doubt that. Take a look.

I liked both versions. But, Jesse M. does have better body than Kyle S. so I do see your point!
At least Jesse Metcalfe seems fit. Kyle Searles made these funny facial expressions and didn't have a very "hot" body. It would make no sense for Gabrielle to cheat on Carlos for...Kyle. No offense to Searles, but he's not that attractive. And he's a terrible actor.
I'll go with B. Cole and say I liked both version. Kyle does look really young though. I can relate though, as I was a late bloomer myself. So, I can see why they looked for a better body...too bad Jesse couldn't do much but look "hot".
