VIDEO: "Desperate Housewives" Unaired Pilot: Part 1 (Mary Alice)
You may have an enormous production budget, the wittiest writers and an award-winning director, but unless you have talented and likable actors who fit their respective roles and make the audience fall in love with them week after week, your TV show will be a stinker.
To prove that point we'll look at three classic scenes from the pilot of "Desperate Housewives" which aired on Sunday, October 3, 2004 on ABC and what they looked like in the original, unaired version which was filmed earlier that year with the initially cast actors.
Sheryl Lee, the actress who played Laura Palmer - the victim of a bizarre murder case in 1990's "Twin Peaks" - was originally cast as Mary Alice Young, one of the housewives on the fictional Wisteria Lane who commits suicide in the opening minutes of the episode and goes on to narrate the series.

If I may make a correction that actress did play Laura Palmer on Twin peaks but her name is Sheryl Lee
The actress who played Laura Palmer was Sheryl Lee, who is pictured in this video for the DH pilot.
Sherilyn Finn played a different character on Twin Peaks and is now recurring on Gilmore Girls as April's mom.
Yes, yes... Sherilyn Fenn played Audrey Horne on "Twin Peaks". Sorry, guys... Mea culpa...
I dunno if this sounds weird but I think that Brenda Strong is nicer to listen to than Sheryl Lee. Steven Culp was better than that other guy and Jesse M is nicer to look at than that Kyle guy.
