ABC's Brothers & Sisters' Greg Berlanti: Scotty To Be Kevin's Mr. Big
MARCH 4, 2007: The openly gay showrunner of ABC's hit series "Brothers & Sisters" (an all-new episode airs Sunday night) said in an interview with Logo TV's entertainment blog After Elton that Scotty Wandell (Luke MacFarlane) will be to Kevin Walker (Matthew Rhys) what Mr. Big was to Sex and the City's Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker).
Berlanti whose previous credits include such TV gems as The WB's Dawson's Creek and Everwood, says he and the series creator Jon Robin Baitz (also an openly gay man) have not had any problems with ABC concerning Kevin's frequent lip-locking scenes with men on the show because ABC executives today are very young and open-minded.
Berlanti praised Matthew Rhys for bringing his A-class acting qualities to Kevin Walker that in turn motivated the writers to come up with richer and fresher stories for the character making everyone including the network and the studio want to see more of him.
The writers admitted that due to the undeniable chemistry between Kevin and his former romantic interest Scotty (Luke MacFarlane), Kevin's current relationship with Chad (Jason Lewis) remains overshadowed.
They will however continue to explore Kevin's life as a single man who has yet to mature for a true long-lasting relationship, but Scotty will definitely be a part of that journey and the writers will keep coming back to the character.

Ooh, Mr. Big Justin :)
Thank you for posting this on Televisionista! :)
Thank you for getting the word out about the future of Scotty Wandell and that Luke will be back to B&S since Scotty is Kevin's Mr. Big :)
I just love how he puts that. :) I can't wait to see Berlanti, Baitz & Olin, and the rest of the regular cast members live on stage this coming Monday, March 5th at the Paley Fest (yes, I got tix!).
All good new about Luke is good in my book. :)

Thank god they are keeping Skotty. Can't wait to see more of him.
While I like Scotty, his relationship with Kevin doesn't give me an OTP vibe.
So, with Berlanti hinting that Scotty might be Kevin's so-called 'Mr. Right' leaves me feeling a little unhappy.
I'd like to see Kevin's character paired with someone like the character Rab from that UK show "The Book Group" from a few years ago... That, or someone who gives off an Anthony Rapp vibe. Or... OOOOOOH! Someone like Jack from "Dawson's Creek."
