What About Ratings?
Earlier this year, ABC surprised the TV industry with their renewal of the JJ Abrams-produced drama "What About Brian". Then they did it again with the full season renewal of 22 episodes. Unfortunately, that has not helped the ratings, as the series continues to reach new lows.
On an otherwise uneventful night of repeats and going head-to-head with reruns of "Studio 60" on NBC and CSI: Miami on CBS, "What About Brian" managed to reach a new low last night scoring just 4,54 million viewers.
It is obvious the inexplicable renewal must have had something to do with the fact that the drama was created by the author of ABC's darling "LOST". How long till the inevitable cancellation axe swings, though?
Elsewhere, NBC's new game show Identity, which will air for five consecutive evenings, kicked-off with an impressive 12.18 million viewers, holding on to over 80% of "Deal Or No Deal" audience. Good start.

It's unfortunate that What About Brian? is doing bad in the ratings. When it was a midseason replacement and didn't have much of a competition, it did pretty well enough for NBC to consider renewing it. Now, it has too much competition and better series it is up against. NBC should have just left it as a midseason replacement series rather than a full season series. Oh well...live and let learn, I guess.
I like this series too. Plus anything with Matthew Davis in it gets my vote! :)
