Madonna Visits TODAY Show

Grammy Award winning singer, dancer, producer, songwriter and fashion icon Madonna visited the TODAY show on NBC this morning promoting her new movie, the animated feature "Arthur and the Invisibles".

Madonna whose "Confessions on the Dance Floor LIVE" DVD will be released later this month talked about her career, motherhood and reflected on some current affairs.

The superstar supported her friend Rosie O'Donnell saying it was not fair that people were giving her hard time and that as a stand up comedian she reserves the right to be provocative.

Madonna visited the New York-based breakfast show for the very first time and joked she had never come on because she hates getting up early.

NBC TO CENSOR MADONNA

On the day when ratings-challenged NBC is making headlines with their plans to cut 700 jobs to salvage their operation, the network has also made a decision regarding their planned November 22 two-hour broadcast of Madonna's concert special "Confessions" from her best-selling 2006 tour.

The source at NBC has confirmed that the portion of the "Live to Tell" song in which Madonna sings suspended from a giant cross will not air as part of the special. Instead, cameras will cut to other images while Madonna is on the cross.

The special was filmed during the singer's performance at Wembley Stadium in London. Madonna, who is the executive producer of the special initially insisted that the footage be included. Following pressure from religious groups, NBC made a decision to censor the program.

Last season, the network was heavily criticized by religious groups for broadcasting religious drama "The Book of Daniel" as they deemed the series blasphemous. Following pressure the groups made on advertisers to pull their ads from the program, the network made a decision to cancel the drama.

NBC TO CENSOR MADONNA?

Although NBC had previously agreed to go along with Madonna's wish that mock crucifixion remain a part of her upcoming November sweeps concert special, the network now says it has yet to approve the airing of the stunt.

The 48-year old entertainer was singing this summer suspended on a giant cross wearing a crown of thorns as part of her "Confessions on the Dance Floor" tour. Church leaders in Rome and Moscow had blasted the show as blasphemous.

NBC now claims it is waiting for delivery of the footage before it makes the final decision.

The network has not set the exact airdate yet.
