'Samantha Jones' Opens Harrods Summer Sale
'Sex and the City' star Kim Cattrall who plays the bedhopping man-eater Samantha Jones in the classic HBO comedy and current box office hit, opened Harrods summer sale in London on Monday and was given a personal tour of the luxury store by owner Mohamed al Fayed.
Female celebrities like Eva Longoria Parker and Sarah Michelle Gellar opened winter and summer sales for the ritzy Knightsbridge store in the past.
Cattrall, 51, who arrived at the store in a horse-drawn carriage (as did her predecessors), greeted shoppers dressed in a cream dress and strappy shoes by Givenchy, teamed with a Dries Van Noten jacket.
Cattrall kept smiling for the cameras despite the noise being made by a group of anti-fur protesters who were picketing the store.
Cattrall was born in Liverpool, where she spent the first 3 years of her life, before her family emigrated to Canada.
The actress, who therefore consideres herself a Brit, said it was "a real thrill for [her] to open the sale at one of the UK's national institutions."
