Are Justecca the New Gizzie?
A twist in an upcoming episode of ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" may send Rebecca (Emily Van Camp) into Justin's arms (the red-bearded Dave Annable).
According to casting sides for the first post-strike episode (titled "Separation Anxiety") Justin is by Rebecca's side when she arranges a DNA test in order to determine whether or not Holly's friend (Ken Olin) is her father.
Earlier this season, the viewers were led to question the paternity of Rebecca's late father William Walker which would open up new romantic possibilities for the character.
But will the writers dare take the obvious and increasingly sudsy route in their storytelling and abolish the family tie between Rebecca and Justin, that they worked so hard to establish last year?
Such twist with quasi-incestuous connotations could lead, according to some fans, to a disaster of Gizzistic proportions.
On the other hand, the characters played by Van Camp and Annable who are said to be dating in real life, have had a special bond and relied upon each other for support since the day they met.
Let us hope the producers of "Brothers & Sisters" know what they are doing. The show returns April 20 with 4 all-new episodes crammed with juicy developments. The 2nd season finale airs May 11. The show has already been renewed for a 3rd season.

Can't wait for B&S to come back. I hope more story development for Justin, Rebecca, Tommy and Sarah. As much as I love Kevin/Scotty, I'm afraid that they storyline might take a break.
Gizzie is not a disaster, have you been to the boards, they have a huge huge fanbase and there is nothing incestuous about them? Maybbe you should read the comments on Grey matter blog, 90% of them are pro-Gizzie. If you don't take those comments back, I am not coming to this site anymore
If they were the new Gizzie, it would be an amazing thing as Gizzie is the most amazing couple on the show. I thought you were fans of them. Gizzie has a big fanbase and we are sick and tired of the stupid critics acting like we don't exist, Gizzie on most sites has the second biggest fanbase after Gizzie.
There is nothing incestuous about Gizzie, how can you compare them to people who are related, that is so stupid! Gizzie belongs together and are amazing and the only reason why I watch Grey
Gizzie is the best couple on TV and you are an idiot
Why insult Gizzie? A whole lot of us who read this site are huge fans of them and we feel low enough already, don't you dare compare them to this awful couple! Gizzie is the best couple on Grey and probably on TV
Gizzie are the greatest and far from being a disaster
George and Izzie are my favorite couple and I do not appreciate your stupid comments on them.
I thought you were a Gizzie fan, not like all the idiot critics who cannot see how amazing those two are together. Incestuous, my eyes. They are two best friends who realized they ahd fallen deeply in love. It is a beautiful thing, Maybe you should check out what incestuous means in the dictionary. Gizzie is the ebst couple on TV
Rawr.
Some people need to calm down, methinks.
I, for one, don't mind the Gizzie parallel.
Thanks Justin.
I forgot how much fun it is to express one's opinion. I guess I should simply ditch my dull TV news collection and focus on button-pushing commentaries. Contrary to what you may believe, though, the post above was the first, not the latter. And you have taken it completely out of context.
First of all - if I do express an opinion about the Gizzie storyline or any other storyline on my own blog, I will never in a million years go back and apologize for it.
We don't live in opression, so you can simply forget about that.
Second - I never said I hated Gizzie. And I most definitely never said there was anything incestuous about Gizzie. What I did do is compare the backlash that the storyline generated (and I'm sorry, but there most definitely was a serious backlash) with the kind of reaction the coupling of Justin and Rebecca on "Brothers & Sisters" would most likely provoke.
There is no doubt the coupling would prove to be controversial and a turn-off for a certain, possibly significant, number of fans, as was the one of Gizzie on "Grey's Anatomy."
Choosing the word "disaster" may have been somewhat unfortunate on my part, but it is clear the execution of the storyline was a very bumpy ride for the writers.
Having said that, those of you who have read my earlier posts on Gizzie should recall that I have always adored the two of them together, and although I am a big fan of Sara Ramirez, I always found the idea of her character marrying George O'Malley far-fetched.
Furthermore (and I may not get any support on this one) I am also a big fan of "Justecca" (as I, for now, refer to them), simply because I adore both of the actors and their characters and I would love to see Justin finally find the girl of his dreams and the inner peace that he has been desperately searching for.
Of course, that may only come to fruition if Rebecca's father is indeed Ken Olin's character. For this reason I used the prefix "quasi" - despite the connotations and all the tease, if neither parent is a Walker, there is no reason for these two people, if they do indeed have genuine feelings for each other, not to be together. They didn't exactly spend their entire lives believing they are siblings, did they?
In any event, the storyline should be handled carefully - thus my wish that the writers know what they're doing.
Finally, I welcome all opposing opinions, but please avoid name-calling in your comments, as I will no longer be able to publish such contributions, despite my best efforts to appreciate your immense passion for television.
to be honest i never actually thought gizzie was an incestual relationship. really. i just thought they were two best friends who fell in love. that doesnt necessarily mean i love the couple. i think they're better together as friends. but really, incestual? not really. and another thing i'd like to say is that justin and rebecca (or justecca as you call it) would make a great couple if she was indeed not a walker. but the thing is BROTHERS AND SISTERS is a show about a mother and her sons and children and lol, her husband's illiegitimate daughter. so if rebecca was not a walker, i would be hugely disappointed and not in the least happy about it. in any other context, sure justecca would be awesome. but this, not so much. just my two cents. =)
Wow. I can't believe that people actually went to great lenghts to defend Gizzie, as if Justin was saying that they are something really bad. The problem with Gizzie for most anti-Gizzie people, I believe it is how they became a couple. I for one have a hard time letting go of the fact that George was married and that they slept together once, then all of the sudden they're in love. Although, I do not like how this couple got together, I do understand why some people like them and why others don't.
Anyway, with B&S, I really hope that they don't go there. Mostly because it would undermine the storylines that they built up during season1. All that drama, would have been for nothing and it would cheapen(at least for me) the show. And considering how much backlash there was after Gizzie, for B&S it could put them in serious trouble as they aren't as popular as Grey's Anatomy. But who knows? Maybe this will actually prove to be a sucessful storyline, if executed correctly, which considering the Tommy/Leena/Justin - whoopla doesn't really give me much faith...
Just my two cents...don't hurt me:P
Don't take those comments too seriously. We all have our opinions, but we should not attack the poster for his opinions (in my opinion!).
On a lighter note, I wouldn't mind being thrust into the arms of Justin (either one! teehee)
ha thats cute =) i wouldnt mind either.
I have never heard someone other than here say they like the "Gizzie" storyline.
Justin, I think you should be free to add more commentary. I agree with so much of your judgement.
And finally I think Justecca would be a huge mistake.
justeccca is the x factor the show needs to shake it up
it is perfect and the chemistry behind the 2 actors is so believable
h
You never heard anyone say they like Gizzie? Do you know that on fanforum they have 356 fans, and we have gained two just the last week even though Gizzie ended about a year ago.
They also have about 500 on LJ, about 100 on Tv-com. In fact the Gizzie fan community on TV-com is the biggest of any Grey pairing.
Then you have Fanpop where they have 487 fans.
BuddyTV has also many many Gizzie fans.
And the Gizzie petition who got signated by 1174 members.
I have met Gizzie fans everywhere even on ABC lately, except on TWOP so maybe you need to get around more.
I do find it hillarious that in about 10 sites, I go to, a GI hater has said oh this is the only place where Gizzie has fans. I think you know they do, but saying this makes it seem like their fans are some marginalized little group when in fact the official Grey mag said the Gizzie fans were probably the majority by the time they ended, only less vocal.
And yes Gizzie had very vocal backlash, they also have a very loyal fanbase and many quit after they ended. Ever notice how the ratings started plunging rigth ater the tragic sex episode before the strike? Many Gizzie fans quit after that.
The fact that they still have so many fans and gaining new ones months after they ended and that the ratings were so much better with them together, I'd say they were better for the show together than apart, especially now that we might lose TR for lack of story
